Pebblebrook
Hallo Deutschland Tour
|
Six
Pebblebrook students and one
from
South Cobb HS visited Berlin
and
Hamburg the first and second
weeks
in June with Herr Perkins. The trip
was the 1st time several students
had
journeyed to another country.

| Our
trip included many of Berlin's must see attractions: the Kaiser Wilhelm
Memorial Church, Reichstag, a Spree boat tour, Alexander Platz, the Berlin
Cathedral, Pergamon Museum, Gendarmenmarkt, Charlottenburg Palace and the
Olympic Stadium. There was also a somber visit to the Plötzensee
Memorial Center.
Potsdamer
Platz, with its gleaming, futuristic buildings, proved to be everyone's
favorite Berlin spot. A trip to Filmpark Babelsberg was somewhat
disappointing since most of the students have worked at Six Flags over
Georgia. This comparison notwithstanding, the students enjoyed the
S-Bahn ride to Babelsberg which gave them an opportunity to see Berlin's
lake district and the city of Potsdam which was less hectic than Berlin.
A day
trip to Hamburg turned out to be the highlight of the tour. After
arriving by train, we did a walking tour of the city center. We walked
the area from the main train station to the Rathausmarkt. Our journey
then took us to the Gansemarkt with a stop along the way at the Alsterarkaden
for some shopping. The next stop was the Jungfernstieg. The
views there were so spectacular that we decided to board a boat for a leisurely
tour of the Binnen- and Außenalster Lakes. On the train ride
back to Berlin, some students decided they liked Hamburg more than Berlin
because the water gave it more charm.
We
hope the pictures on these pages capture some of the spirit and fun of
our trip!! |

| Breakfast
at our hotel included the typically German bread, rolls, boiled eggs, cheese,
cold meats, nutella, coffee and orange juice. David, Chris and Keith
are probing their first "Frühstück" while Herr Perkins watches
Ronda, Ashley, L'Erin and Shemario as they dig into their meal. The
girls ate lots of nutella on rolls while the guys tried some of everything. |
