-List unfamiliar words

-List themes and symbols in the chapter

-List meaningful quotations

-Expand on character analysis and development

-Define unfamiliar words

-Make personal comments on themes and symbols

-Make textual connections to similar themes and symbols in other works (poetry, music, film, literature)

-Make personal connections to meaningful quotations

-Analyze the significance of the quotations within the text

-Write three higher-order thinking questions based on the chapter for classroom discussion

A spiral bound or composition notebook is recommended for this assignment.

Use the left side of the notebook for textual information and the right side of the notebook for personal response information.

Be prepared to discuss and present your Reader Response Journal the first week of school. This assignment is due on the FIRST day of school.
