COURSE DESCRIPTION:

World History is a survey of people and nations of both Western and non-Western civilizations. This course explores the political, cultural, and economic heritage of civilizations from the time of recorded history to present. Concepts and skills in problem solving and critical thinking are developed.

TEXT: World History: The Human Experience, Glencoe, 1999.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:

Students must keep a notebook.

Students must be on time for class. Remember the tardy policy!

Students must come prepared with a pen/pencil, notebook and textbook.

Students must raise their hand for permission to speak, leave the desk or room.

EXPECTATIONS:

All students are expected to be ACTIVE participants in this class.

You can NOT be an active participant in this class if: you are asleep, you are in the hallway or bathroom (3 passes per semester), you are using your cell phone. Please remember why you are here.

All students are expected to be cooperative and respect each other (and each others’ opinions and things).

All students are expected to take pride in the classroom and school.

All students are expected to follow all rules and procedures printed in the Pebblebrook High School student agenda.

Tests & Quizzes 30%

Homework & Classwork 30%

Outside Reading/Project 10%

Performance Tasks 10%

Final Exam 20%

HOMEWORK POLICY:

Homework must be completed on time for the maximum amount of learning to take place. Late work will NOT be accepted. (This means if the work is in your locker, it is late and I do NOT accept late work.) It is your responsibility to keep up with each assignment. You have the number of days you were absent plus one to make up missed assignments. If your absence is unexcused, you cannot make up the work until the absence is excused by the school administration.
