Checking Out Of School

Early checkout from school is discouraged. Students and parents should try to arrange medical and other appointments after school hours. A parent, guardian, or administrator must grant permission to check out in every case. Under non-emergency circumstances, the parent should send a note to school with the student. The note should include:
1. The student’s first and last name
2. The parent’s name and/or signature.
3. The student’s homeroom number.
4. The reason for the early dismissal request.
5. Telephones number where the parent can be reached during the school day to verify the checkout request. If a student is driving or walking, a parent must be contacted. If the parent or guardian cannot be reached, the student may NOT leave. If the student leaves after we inform him/her that we cannot verify the early dismissal, it will be treated as a class cut, and disciplinary action will be taken.

For the safety and security of our students, an adult who enters the attendance office to pick up a child without having notified the staff in advance will be asked to present identification. This also applies to people whose names are listed as emergency contacts.

  Out-Of-Town (Unavailable) Parents?

Parents must provide emergency phone numbers on the emergency card completed at the beginning of the year.
This card will be kept in the Attendance Office. On the card, please give the name(s) and telephone number(s) of the person(s) to call when parents are unavailable. We cannot release students to anyone other than parents or other adults approved by the parents. Only in emergency situations will the school contact adults listed on the student information card.

Parents, if you know you will be out of town for any length of time and plan to leave your children in someone else’s care, PLEASE be sure the person(s) caring for your children have written permission to authorize medical treatment, write notes for your children, and authorize checking out of school. PLEASE SEND THIS INFORMATION TO THE ATTENDANCE OFFICE SO THAT SCHOOL PERSONNEL WILL KNOW WHOM TO CONTACT IN CASE OF EMERGENCY.

If you have had any changes in student information such as, Name, Address, Telephone Numbers, Emergency Contacts, etc., please inform the Attendance Office staff of the change(s) so that your child’s emergency card will be up to date.

THANK YOU
