In the media center you can....
  • Research information in books, magazines, CD-ROM programs, or the Internet.
  • Listen to a storyteller or a visiting author.
  • Curl up and read a book or check one out.
  • Produce a multi-media project.

Checking Out Books
Remember book buddies!
  • 2 week check-out time.
  • You may renew once.
  • Grades K-3 may check out 1 book and  grades 4 and 5 may check out 2 books.
  • If you need more books, let us know.
  • You may bring a book back early and get another one.

What about overdues?
  • It’s OK to get an overdue notice, but return the book then or the next day.
  • Let us know right away if you think you have already returned it.  We need to find it.
  • You may not check another book out if you have one overdue.

What can I do to help?
  • Be prepared to tell the checkout person your first and last name.
  • Return chairs and books to the correct space when you are finished.
  • Assist others on the computer or with a book’s address.
  • Use inside voices and behavior.

How Can I Get to Come to the Media Center?
  • Before 7:45 in the morning for a quick check-out.
  • With your class for a lesson or story.
  • Alone when you need a book or to do research.
  • With a small group working on a project.
  • When you need help with multi-media production.

You are responsible!
  • Don’t let a friend have the book checked out  to you.
  • Don’t let the book get wet.
  • Put the book in a safe place away from dogs and babies.
  • Return the book like you found it--not ripped or written in.

Remember! Take charge of your reading and research.
  • You must tell your teacher when you need a book or to do research.   Everyone can come!
  • Ask your teacher to find the time.

What will I learn here?
  • How to select a book using a computer.
  • How to use the book’s address or Dewey number to find the book.
  • How to get information from materials for research.
  • How to use different forms of materials like print, AV, or electronic media.

And you will learn to be independent user’s .
  • You will be in charge of getting the  information you need.
  • You will decide what book or resource to select.
  • You can choose to use                     print or non-print resources.
  • You can choose where to study or read.
