Sedalia Park History
Sedalia Park Elementary school was built in
1955 on land bought by Cobb County from the Sewells, a pioneer Cobb family. The
school was named for Sedalia, Tennessee, which was the home town of Paul Grubbs,
a contractor for some of the work on the school.
In Sedalia Park's opening year (1956-57) the
faculty consisted of 11 teachers, 4 grades 1-8 and a student enrollment of 285.
Over her 50 years Sedalia Park has seen many additions and changes with the
latest being completed in the fall of 2006. Sedalia Park currently has 40
classrooms with 81 certified teachers, a staff of 118 and a student enrollment
of 740 students.
