Important Information – PLEASE READ Cobb County School District Food and Nutrition Services Update For School Year 2007-08 Good nutrition plays an extremely important role in your child’s academic success. We offer a healthy and nutritious lunch to your child each day. In addition, we make breakfast available at many schools. A copy of the daily menu is available on our website at www.cobbk12.org/~foodsvcs.Each year you are encouraged to complete a Family Application for Free and Reduced Price Meals if you think you meet the eligibility standards. The applications are available at your child’s school prior to the first day of school. In addition, an application will be provided in the student folder that your child will receive on the first day of school. Once you have submitted a completed application, a notice of approval or disapproval will be sent home with your child. The processing time can take up to ten (10) working days for eligibility determination; therefore, you will need to either pack a lunch for your child or give them money to purchase school meals until you receive notice of approval or disapproval. Students may buy lunch for $1.60 in elementary school, $1.75 in middle school, and $1.85 in high school. Breakfast costs $1.00 in elementary, middle, and high school, where available. Cobb County School District now offers a system called Mealpay, which allows you to make prepayments to your child ’s meal account via the telephone or internet. You can prepay with your VISA, MasterCard or Discover credit card online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Payments made online will be credited to your child’s account approximately 24 hours from time of credit card payment.Mealpay also provides easy access to view your child ’s account balance and payment history. You can even be notified by email when the account balance is low. You do not have to make prepayments to utilize these features. You simply have to register with Mealpay online at www.mealpay.com.To prepay for meals by telephone, simply dial 1-866-210-3679. To prepay online, go to www.mealpay.com. to log on and use your credit card to fund your child’s meal account. There is a convenience charge of 5.75%. You will need to know your child’s Cobb County Student ID Number (6 or 7 digit number). You can get this number from the Cafeteria Manager or the Administrative Office at your school. If your child arrives at school without money for lunch, we will allow up to $4.80 in charges at elementary school and $3.50 at middle school. Charges are not allowed for a la carte, adults, or at high school. All charges should be paid back immediately. If your child exceeds the charge limit, he/she will be provided an alternate meal (peanut butter sandwich and milk or cheese sandwich and milk). No alternate meal will be provided for breakfast. To prevent your child from having to receive an alternate meal, please ensure that you send money for your student’s meals each day. Prepayment of meals for your child is the best method of ensuring that they receive a meal. Any money on account or negative balances due to non-sufficient funds checks on your child’s account for the current school year will roll over to the upcoming 2005-2006 school year. All negative balances due to non-sufficient funds checks should be paid prior to the beginning of the new school year. The Food Service Managers will be in their offices one week before school starts to settle any negative balances and accept prepayments. Prepayments can be made utilizing Mealpay. Also, prepayments will be accepted during Meet- and-Greet at the elementary schools only if your child has a student ID number. We look forward to the opportunity to provide your student nutritious meals that are appealing to your child and are of high quality and good value. |
