In an effort to promote safe driving, the Governors Office of Highway Safety held a competition asking each high school who wanted to participate to produce a thirty second public service announcement.

Lisa Watson’s Advanced Video Broadcast Class immediately jumped at the opportunity to show their best. After weeks of typing, editing, and completing their regular class work Miguelle Millo, Cody Rogers, Marvin Perez and Patrick McGee completed the PSA; which featured Tory Turello crossing a busy intersection blindfolded.

The group’s unconventional approach to their production is what set them apart and allowed them to win over the other 69 schools that participated.  Although being awarded a prom party is a great prize, the students feel that the recognition for their hard work and dedication is the sweetest reward.

The final version, which was reproduced by Georgia Public Broadcasting in cooperation with the South Cobb High School students, will be aired on Comcast channels Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, BET, MTV and Comedy Central during prom season and the students hope that they help teen drivers make an informed decision about driving impaired.
