“Building on Strengths”

March is National Social Work Month and we invite you to celebrate with us! This year’s theme is “Building on Strengths: Help Starts Here.”  Every individual, family and community has strengths that help them face life’s difficulties.  The School Social Workers of Cobb County encourage and challenge you to share with your children the positive strengths that you see in them - are they smart, funny, athletic, artistic, talented in music or dance, caring , honest, friendly?  Ask your children what strengths they find in you, and you will probably be surprised at their insights and observations.

Empowering people and providing supportive services are priorities in the Social Work profession. In times of crisis, we are trained to help you find your individual strengths, and give you the confidence and support needed to resolve difficulties. By focusing on the abilities, resources and supports that are available, School Social Workers assist students and their families during challenging times.

Don’t forget to thank the School Social Worker in your school for all they do to build strengths within the school and community!
