Aesop's Fables are stories that were written by a Greek slave named Aesop a long, long time ago. The fables all teach a moral and offer advice. Now it is your turn to write a fable. Maybe your tale will be remembered a long, long time from now.
You will visit many websites about Aesop and his fables. Each of you will choose one of the fables to read. Using Inspiration you will brainstorm how the parts of the fable could have a modern day twist. You will then write your own modern day version of the fable you read using Student Writing Center.
1. This website and its links.
2. Paper and pencil to write down the title of your fable and to take notes.
3. The computer program Inspiration.
4. Student Writing Center.
1. Go to this website http://quotations.home.att.net/aesop.html to read about the author himself. What are some sayings we use today that he made famous?

http://www.wendy.com/children/
3. Choose one of the fables by clicking on the title, and read the traditional version.
4. While you are reading think about ways and make notes on how the story could have a more modern day twist.

8. In the boxes in the center type all the ways that your story will be the same as the traditional story. One of the similarities must be the moral of the story.
9. In the boxes on the left and right side of the page brainstorm ideas for how the stories will be different (Traditional or Modern).
10. Print your web.
11. Use the web as a guideline as you write your
story in Student Writing Center.
Evaluation
You must share your Inspiration web with your teacher before writing your fable. Your fable will be graded on grammar, spelling, punctuation, and creativity.
After completing this project you should be familiar with many of Aesop's Fables. Hopefully, you can apply some of the morals of the stories to your life. The fables that you have written should have a modern day content that your classmates and others should be able to relate to.
