Why do we need a Foundation?
The Tritt Tiger Foundation was established in 2001 to walk hand-in-hand with the PTA for the sole purpose of the children of Tritt. PTA works with our school to provide various programs and volunteers, but there are National PTA guidelines which limit how our PTA spends money. For example, the Tritt PTA cannot pay teacher salaries. The Foundation can utilize funds for salaries, capital improvements and other parent/teacher identified needs. Both the PTA and the Foundation are 501(C)(3) tax-exempt charitable organizations, however, the Foundation is incorporated as an educational non-profit foundation. This enables the Foundation to receive employee-matching grants and apply for educational grant monies.
What are the Foundation’s current goals?
• Fund & staff a Science Enrichment Program
• Fund and staff a Technology Enrichment Program
• Fund and staff Spanish Language Enrichment Program
• Expand the After-School Enrichment Programs, which provide parents with convenient access to quality, cost-effective extra-curricular programs for their children.
• Continued capital improvements, including the renovation of the playground
• Increase two-way communication between all parents & TTF through the establishment of Foundation Liaisons.
How does Tritt Tiger Foundation raise money?
TTF is funded through Patron Program contributions, 10% of revenue from the After-School Enrichment programs and the Square One Art program. The Foundation accepts tax-deductible individual donations, employee-matching grants, charitable organization grants, and corporate matching.
Most local Atlanta employers do match funds in some manner so please check with your Human Resources Manager today to see if you can qualify.
