five-note blues scales on a keyboard.
- We learned the twelve-bar blues
chord progression.

using a combination of quarter, eighth, and sixteenth notes.

- We studied the works of
Picasso, his life, and his types of art.
- We found that he used a variety
of techniques unlike artists of his time.
- We learned that he had a BLUE
PERIOD in his life where he was sad because he lost a friend. During
this period, he mainly used the color blue to represent his sadness and the
sadness around him.

1. Heroes keep away the blues
research project
- Each student chose a hero.
- We created interview questions
and conducted our interview.
- We have created a poster about
our hero.
- We will celebrate at our
"Bring a Hero to Lunch Day!"
2. Songwriting workshop
- In small groups, students are
creating blues songs using the 12-bar blues chord progressions.
- We have learned the art of
using rhyming dictionaries.
- We are writing about things
that make us blue.
