About Varner's Media Center The Media Center at Varner Elementary is a warm and inviting place full of books, magazines, computers, videos, software, cozy reading areas, and much more! You may use the Internet, take Accelerated Reader tests, listen to stories, and learn research skills. So come and explore our jungle of opportunities...look under every book...on every computer...under every reading cushion, for there are adventures just waiting to be discovered! Dr. Linda Beving/Media Center Specialist "I have died and gone to heaven" is what I tell everyone back in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. That's what it's like for me at Varner Elementary School." ~ Dr. B Dr. Beving has been an elementary teacher, an elementary -middle -and a high school library media specialist, a middle school assistant principal, a high school assistant principal, a high school principal, a central office administrator, and a part-time college instructor. Dr. B has a BS Degree from Judson College (a Baptist women's college), a Masters in Library Service and an Education Specialist in Media from the University of Alabama (roll tide) and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from UAB.

Melissa Madden/Media Center Assistant Mrs. Madden has been at Varner for 4 years now. She spent 2 years in P.E. and is now going on her second year in the library. Mrs. Madden loves reading and helping students find great books. Her favorite books from when she was a child are Mandy by Julie Andrews and From the Mixed up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankeiler by E. L. Konigsburg.
