BACCALAUREATE SERVICE AND RECEPTION
Tuesday, May 20, 7:30 P.M., Johnson Ferry Baptist Church
The Baccalaureate Committee is in the process of finishing plans for this year’s service. Invitations have been mailed to all seniors and their families, the Wheeler faculty and staff, county school superintendent and our school board representative for this inspirational evening.

The student committee is hard at work preparing the music and program, while parent committees are making plans for the festive Reception. The Baccalaureate Service is a non-denominational inspirational “sending forth” of our graduates. It is an opportunity to reflect on the emotional, intellectual, and spiritual development of the last four years by sharing thoughts and giving thanks. The Reception offers a time to socialize, celebrate and take photos with families and friends. Baccalaureate promises to be a significant event for the week of graduation.

The cost of Baccalaureate is completely funded by senior parent contributions. Donations are greatly appreciated to cover the cost of the evening. Parents can include their donation in the RSVP envelope enclosed with their invitation. Donation checks may be made payable to Wheeler Baccalaureate Committee, and mailed to 2589 Grist Mill Rd., Marietta, GA 30067.

It is a Wheeler tradition for the parents of underclassmen to help with the committees. The Reception and Clean up committees are in need of volunteers. Our committee chairs welcome your assistance and appreciate you giving your time to the senior class to make this a memorable occasional.

We encourage every member of the Class of 2008 to come together with their family and friends for this meaningful service. If you have any questions regarding Baccalaureate or wish to volunteer, please email Debbie Cooper, dlcooper123@aol.com or Kathy Michaelis, kmichaelis@mindspring.com.

Research Study
In the Internet age, it matters where high school students find information to do their school projects. The researcher is trying to determine if Cobb County public libraries and school media centers are providing effective, quality information resources and services to cater for high school students’ needs. It is easy to permit your student to participate. Please click on: http://www.zynthesize.com/Questionnaire/Consent.aspx This will open the electronic consent form. By agreeing, the questionnaire will open up and can be forwarded to your student’s computer. Thank you for allowing your student to be part of this study. I would like to thank the administration of Wheeler High School for allowing me to conduct the survey. Ann Mathee Krige
