When COVID-19 closed our classrooms this past spring, Cobb teachers made the switch to remote learning literally, overnight.

While CTLS Learn was already in the development process, district leaders realized that our schools might need it much sooner than we realized. So, in direct response to COVID-19’s impact on schools in Cobb County, the Cobb Team has spent the last 5 months working overtime to provide students and parents with a feature-rich, easy-to-use digital classroom we call CTLS Learn. Learn integrates with the other three pieces of the Cobb Teaching and Learning System (CTLS) and streamlines the learning process as an important part of the CTLS platform.

As we begin the 2020-2021 school year in remote classrooms, CTLS Learn is one, important, step Cobb teachers and leaders have taken to make remote learning a more meaningful experience for students. The new tool is now available for students and their parents to access, students can access Learn through the CTLS website

The CTLS Learn Portal allows students to view and access assignments through the Classroom Dashboard. Additionally, many online learning resources are also available through the Dashboard, including textbooks. Students, teachers, and groups can even hold video chats to discuss and learn the material in greater depth.

Cobb Schools is proud of the system, but more importantly, CTLS Learn was designed and created based on input from the end-users: students, parents, and teachers. CTLS takes the best part of face-to-face classroom, the teacher, and combines live teaching with the tools and digital content that help a remote learning classroom make “learning everywhere” a reality.

"CTLS Learn allows teachers to provide a high-quality educational experience for students," said Cobb Schools Superintendent Chris Ragsdale. "In any classroom," he continued, "nothing is more important than the teacher and in a digital classroom, nothing is more important than giving teachers the right tools. Student engagement is important to us and CTLS Learn allows students to be engaged with learning, remotely."

Teachers have been impressed and enthused by CTLS Learn. "Can I just say as a teacher that it will be fabulous," said one. "It is going to be great for the students."

Like CTLS Parent, CTLS Learn was built from the ground up to make the online educational process seamless and effortless for both students and teachers.

The CTLS system is a significant step forward for students, parents, and teachers across Cobb County and is especially useful during this worldwide pandemic that is forcing administrators to limit face-to-face learning.

The goal of CTLS Learn is to make it easier for Cobb students to take part in real-time learning whether learning remotely or when students return to face-to-face. It will even include a phone and email directory, as well as a calendar feature with important due dates for assignments and test days.

While CTLS Learn is only one aspect of the entire CTLS system (Cobb Teaching and Learning System), it is the centerpiece. CTLS is a fully-integrated "one-stop-shop" for all things Cobb Schools, and for all those involved in the process—students, teachers, parents, and administrators. Particularly during a time filled with much uncertainty, Cobb parents can know their students are using a unique blend of technology which can make remote learning an engaging learning experience.
