Yes, Cobb teachers do deserve a big thank you!

During one of the most challenging school years on record, we are excited for Cobb teachers and school staff to see extra dollars in their paychecks! A one-time $1,000 bonus payment is a significant sign of support and appreciation for Cobb teachers, principals, and other school staff from Governor Kemp, Superintendent Woods, and the State of Georgia.

Our teachers are the reason Cobb students continue to outpace their peers across the state and nation on the SAT, ACT, and other academic assessments. The current pandemic continues to spotlight our teachers’ commitment to the success of each student, no matter the circumstances.

Here are just some of the reasons our teachers deserve a big thank you:

  • They quickly transitioned to digital learning last spring.
  • They kept students learning despite the uncertainty and changes happening all around them.
  • They mastered new technology to help students learn from anywhere.
  • When they were not teaching, they volunteered to help those most in need in the community.
  • They found innovative ways to keep students engaged in their new world of virtual learning.
  • They rearranged their classrooms to help welcome back students safely to face-to-face learning.
  • They adapted lesson plans and adopted new academic resources to help teach students both in-person and remotely.

The list goes on and on. As a testament to their appreciation for all teachers and school staff have done to support students during one of the most challenging school years on record, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp and State School Superintendent Richard Woods plan to provide a one-time $1,000 bonus payment to every K-12 public-school teacher and school-level staff member in the state.
