State Superintendent, School Leaders, and District Leadership

State School Superintendent Richard Woods recently stood before educators to recognize exceptional schools across the state. Among them, Pine Mountain Middle School proudly stood out as an official Georgia Math Leader—marking the second consecutive year our school has earned this prestigious recognition from the Georgia Department of Education!

The Georgia Department of Education named 479 schools statewide as Math Leaders based on high growth and outstanding scores on the Georgia Milestones tests. Pine Mountain Middle School earned the prestigious High School Achievement designation. This means our middle school students taking advanced math courses are mastering high-school level material at incredible rates.

Part of a Standard of Excellence

State Superintendent Woods noted that Pine Mountain has one of the highest 100% passage rates when it comes to high school math taken in middle school. This achievement reflects a school culture of high expectations supported by strong classroom instruction.

As Board Chair Randy Scamihorn stated, the school's strength is serving the whole community while seeing every student as an individual, making sure our kids have a bright future. This back-to-back honor is a direct reflection of how Pine Mountain actively lives out our CLIMB core values:

  • Commitment: Our high scores reflect dedicated teachers who analyze student work, adjust instruction, and stay after school to help.
  • Leadership: Principals, staff, and student leaders work together to build strong systems of support.
  • Integrity: Success does not happen by chance; it comes from students rising to challenges and doing the hard work.
  • Mindfulness: Educators stay mindful of each student's unique talents and focus on helping them thrive.
  • Balance: Balancing advanced, rigorous coursework with a supportive environment helps students discover true confidence.

Congratulations to our amazing students, families, and staff for earning this incredible state honor two years running! Let's keep climbing together!
