Student Council so-sponsor, 8 Grade Team Leader, School Leadership Team Member, and 8 grade ELA and social studies teacher - these are roles that Ms. Olivia McEvilly is glad to serve so that she can help make Pine Mountain Middle School the best place to teach, lead, and learn. Meet Olivia McEvilly, this week's Staff Spotlight.

Ms. McEvilly holds many roles at Pine Mountain. But regardless of which she is serving, through each role she serves, she impacts countless people. As Student Council co-sponsor, Ms. McEvilly is helping increase student voice on our campus by teaching student leaders how to serve, model good work, and represent their student body. As 8 Grade Team Lead, Ms. McEvilly is doing the same thing. In fact, her class was even used by the CCSD district to create a training video for all of the CCSD middle schools on how to use safe COVID classroom management practices. 

As a member of the school leadership team, Ms. McEvilly helps model for other educators how to integrate engagement strategies into lessons and helps facilitate chapter studies on best practices for our work with kids. In the ELA and social studies classroom, she integrates technology and works with her ELA and social studies partners to design engaging learning opportunities for students.

Ms. McEvilly exemplifies what balance as a professional educator looks like. She influences students both in and out of her classroom and uses her voice to create the right conditions for kids to learn and teachers to teach.
