Staff Spotlight - Jennifer Cassidy

Helping ensure 6th grade students have a successful transition to middle school is just one reason why Mrs. Jennifer Cassidy is our Staff Spotlight for the week of January 24, 2022. Meet Mrs. Cassidy. Mrs. Cassidy is a sixth grade math teacher. During her time in this role, Mrs. Cassidy has been recognized as having the highest 6th grade student achievement scores of all the sixth grade math teachers in the district. When you see what she does in the classroom with the students it is easy to see why.

Mrs. Cassidy never stops learning. She is one of the first teachers at our school to fully use the Math 360 classroom which allows teachers to see student work as they are doing it and give them instant feedback. She also recently completed her specialist degree in instructional technology. In partnership with our media specialist, she has also helped the school gain I-Pads for use with students in the classroom.

Beyond modeling for others what it looks like to never stop learning, Mrs. Cassidy also holds leadership roles at the school. From being a member of the Principal's Teacher Leadership Team to serving serving as our school's Gifted Facilitator, Mrs. Cassidy helps shape the direction of what we do and how we do it. In the role of Gifted Coordinator, she has helped identify new students to be served in the gifted program at our school.

Mrs. Cassidy demonstrates our school's core value of leadership by taking the initiative to advance her own skillset, trying new instructional strategies with kids, and helping provide differentiated learning for students served in the gifted program. She is one more example of what makes Pine Mountain the best place to teach, lead, and learn.
