Congratulations to Ms. Greonna Brooks for being voted as our Employee of the Month! Featured as the Staff Spotlight on August 29, 2022, Ms. Brooks is our 8th grade counselor at Pine Mountain. 

As the the 8th grade counselor, Ms. Brooks helps prepare our kids for high school success by setting up opportunities for kids to learn about and register for high school classes. She coordinates magnet school sessions for parents and kids to learn about the options our kids have to attend various magnet high schools within our district. Most recently, she has helped a student be awarded a $10,000 REACH Scholarship opportunity upon high school graduation.

Due to Ms. Brooks initiative, our school received $6,500 in funds to be used specifically to help her implement Sources of Strength. In this popular student program, she facilitates a comprehensive wellness program that focuses on suicide prevention but also impacts other issues like substance abuse and violence. Sources of Strength uses teams of Peer Leaders mentored by Adult Advisors to change peer social norms about help seeking and encourages students to individually assess and develop strengths in their life. You can find the Peer Leaders supporting programs across the school from providing a Valentine's to every student in the school to helping the Class of 2029 orient to middle school. 

Ms. Brooks has proven her commitment to the students at the Mountain through both her initiative and her daily duties. She is one more reason that Pine Mountain Middle School is the best place to teach, lead, and learn!
