Cobb Schools' Athlete of the Week program is a weekly recognition of a male and a female student-athlete that perform at high levels on the field, in the classroom, and in their school communities. The program is made possible by support from BSN.

This week's winners are:

Jeremy Hecklinski, Walton, Football

In Walton's quarterfinal win over Brookwood last week, Jeremy had a solid game under center. He threw 14-for-23 for 266 yards and four touchdowns. He also added a rushing TD in the impressive 52-35 victory. The Raiders are only two wins away from their first 7A state championship.

"Jeremy has done a tremendous job this season," said head coach Daniel Brunner. "He stepped up after an injury to Zak (Rozsman) in the Archer game and has been outstanding since. His play has helped us reach the final four for the first time since 2011."

"His selflessness is a big reason we have made it to this stage of the playoffs," said Walton Athletic Director Chris Williams. "He has been a tremendous team player this season, coming off the bench to provide a spark when needed and supporting Zak and the rest of his teammates when on the sidelines. Jeremy is a Raider through and through."

Chrystal Henderson, Kell, Basketball

Chrystal became the all-time leading scorer in program history as she led Kell to a 69-60 victory over Troup County last Friday. Needing only 12 points to beat the school record of 1242 held by Kya Williams, Henderson finished with 33. Only a junior, Chrystal will have many more opportunities to extend that record.

"Crystal is an exceptional student athlete, and a true competitor with a tremendous love for the game," said head coach Kandra Bailey. "In her young basketball career, she has already been named to countless awards lists which include all-region and all-state."

"To reach the 1,000-point milestone as a sophomore and break the girls' scoring record as a junior is an exceptional feat that most can only dream of accomplishing," Coach Bailey continued. "Her work ethic is admirable, and I am excited to continue to watch her game evolve."
