Indian and Cardinal Track Athletes Win AOW Honors

Cobb Schools' Athlete of the Week program is a weekly recognition of a male and a female student-athlete that perform at high levels in their sport, in the classroom, and in their school communities. The program is made possible by support from BSN.
This week's winners are track and field athletes from McEachern and Osborne:
Joshua Knox, Track, McEachern
Josh recently won the Region 2-7A championship in both the 200 & 400 meter. He is ranked second in the state in the 200, and 18th in the nation. He is ranked third in the state in the 400 and 25th in the nation. Josh has a scholarship at Alabama State University, and has been invited to compete in the Annual Meet of Champions, where all the best athletes compete against each other.
"Joshua is a leader in the classroom and on the track," said his proud coach Philip Hoskins. "He qualified for sectionals and is looking forward to competing with his teammates at the 7A State Championships this month. Josh is one of the captains of our team and has mentored many of the younger athletes on the team."
Zoie Johnson, Track, Osborne
Zoie had an incredible week recently: She won the Region 6-6A championship in Shot Put and Discus, also earning school records in both events. She also won the gold in Shot Put at the Etowah Invitational, and took first place at the Birds of Prey track meet.
As a respected leader on the team, Zoie leads by example through her consistency and dedication to hard work, both in sports and in the classroom.
"Zoie has a true love for Osborne and always represents the school with pride and the best in conduct," said her coach Ormond Moore. "She has helped three teams reach the postseason in fall, winter, and now spring. Even with all of her success, she is still one of the most humble student-athletes you will ever encounter."
"As a multi-sport athlete, Zoie is a well-rounded young lady," said Osborne Athletic Director Ron Boggs. "She is dual-enrolled and carries a 4.2 GPA, as well as being a member of our Athlete Leadership Council. She achieves at high levels in school and in the three sports she plays: flag football, basketball, and track."
Great jobs, Josh and Zoie! Congratulations to McEachern and Osborne for recognizing the fantastic work happening at your school by these talented student-athletes. Good luck to both of you in state competition!
