Acworth Elementary School welcomes R.E.A.Ding Paws, the Georgia
Chapter of the National Organization of R.E.A.D. R.E.A.D. stands
for Reading Educational Assistance Dogs. We now have our very own
team consisting of a handler and a R.E.A.D dog. Ms. D and Bear
have been trained to support the reading program here at Acworth.
Bear loves to hear students read stories to him, so he has the
pleasure of listening to our students read 2 days a week during the
ASP/RSP hours. Bear is an All-Star dog
because he loves to read!

Mr. Rick McKee, Acworth music teacher, was named Cobb County
Elementary Teacher of the Year on Aug. 17, 2011. Ed Voyles KIA has
provided Mr. McKee with a car for a year. He received his keys on
Monday, Nov. 7, 2011 and is now enjoying his new ride! We at
Acworth are so proud of Mr. McKee and are fortunate to have him on
staff to teach our Acworth students! Way to go Mr. McKee. You are
so deserving!
