Tips for Encouraging Summer Reading

1. Make sure your kids have plenty of books. There are two public libraries nearby: Sweetwater (in the Threadmill)  and South Cobb (Clay Road and Floyd Road intersection).

2. Always pack up books when you go somewhere.

3. Encourage social reading - Start a book club, or see a movie based on a book, and also read the book.

4. Try not to get hung up on whether or not your child "could" be reading more advanced books. Kids turn to reading as an escape, just as adults do. If kids find reading enjoyable they'll keep reading and push themselves.

5. Try to keep some time available for reading.

Look for S.U.R.F. (Summer Reading) information to come home. Please keep reading over the summer!
