Move it in March!

Move It March Health Tips for the Week Ending  March 6th 2015

Monday, March 2nd-Move It In March

Kemp Elementary it’s time to Move it in March.  This month we’re going to focus on fitness and we’re going to have fun doing it.  Fitness is about eating right and exercising.  It’s also about taking care of you and feeling good about yourself.  Being fit also means getting enough rest so your body keeps working.  Real fitness helps you do everything you want to do and have fun too.  So Kemp let’s get moving!

Tuesday, March 3rd-Why Exercise Is Cool

Kids exercise all the time without even thinking of it.  Just being active, like when you run around outside or play kickball at school, is a kind of exercise.  What else counts as exercise?  Playing sports, dancing, doing push-ups and even reaching down to touch your toes counts as exercise.  When   you exercise, you’re helping build a strong body that will be able to move around and do all the stuff you need it to do.  Try to be active every day and your body will thank you later.

Wednesday, March 4th –Health Tips

On your Mark!  Eat your breakfast.  It will help you start your day right.  Get set!  Make a list of healthy activities and foods you should include in your day.  If you can stick to it, you’ll have fun and stay fit.  Go!  How many sit-ups or pushups can you do during commercials of your favorite shows?  See how many times you can ride your bike around the block without stopping.  Let’s get moving Kemp Elementary.  Your body will appreciate it.

Thursday, March 5th Clean Skin Is Happy Skin

One simple way to take care of your skin is to keep it clean.  Keeping your hands clean is especially important because your hands can spread germs to the skin on other parts of your body.  When washing your hands, use water that’s comfortably warm.  Wet your hands, and then lather up with a mild soap.  You should lather and rub everywhere, including the palms, the wrists, between the fingers and under the nails.  Rinse well, dry thoroughly with a clean towel and you’re done.

Friday, March 6th-Sports Safety

Sports are a wonderful way for kids to get involved in extracurricular activities and stay fit.  There are lots of different types of sports for kids to choose from.  No matter what sport you choose to play, it is important to remember that a large part of enjoying and participating in any sport is to be safe.  Having the right equipment, understanding the rules of the game and keeping yourself protected from injury will ensure that you can safely play sports and have fun.
