A Phenomenal Friday @ the Jack!

Congratulations to our fourth grade teacher, Sara Lasiter!  She was chosen as the district's Phenomenal Teacher of the Week!

She was nominated by Olivia Brown (current 5th grader) because, according to Olivia, Mrs. Lasiter "helped her to understand fractions and taught her to be a better writer" when she was in her 4th grade class last year.

A video of the award ceremony can be viewed by clicking here.  Interviews with both Ms. Lasiter and Olivia Brown can be viewed on Cobb County School District homepage (  Additional information and pictures can be viewed by clicking here.

Kindergarten 2016-2017

Nickajack is proud to implement a strand of Dual Language English/Spanish Immersion with two classes of Kindergarten students during the 2016-2017 school year.  This unique model provides instruction and support for students in learning both languages.  Students will split their day between instruction in Spanish and English.

  • Our plan is to grow this program each year through Grade 5.

  • Our hope is to instill cultural competence and enhance communication among our students and community.

  • Our vision and mission is to develop and honor the greatness in everyone and help every child to become a leader.

  • Our Dual Language English/Spanish Immersion program will help students to become
bi-lingual and bi-literate in an ever changing world.

Nickajack conducted internal audits of our building to examine our arrival and dismissal procedures as well as our overall ability to keep our students safe and secure during these parts of our day and throughout.  Please know the safety and security of our students is our number one priority.  A letter outlining changes is attached to the image above.  Thank you for your understanding and doing your part to keep us safe!

Congratulations to Ms. Cynthia Wood!

Congratulations to Ms. Teresa Williams!

 Change of Transportation Policy

It is our goal to ensure that all Nickajack students are transported safely to their afternoon destination. To achieve this goal, any change to your child's afternoon transportation must be submitted in writing to our front office staff.  We will not accept any verbal requests on the phone or any requests sent via email.

We ask parents to make all transportation changes clear to the student before they leave home in the morning.  Parents should send a note with the change information (see below) with the student.

However, there are times when a change is necessary after the instructional day has begun.  In these instances the request must be in writing and faxed to the school no later than 1:30 p.m. on the day of the change.

Required Information:       Transportation Change Form

  • Student's name

  • Teacher's name

  • Date(s) the change will be effective

  • Identify the new mode of transportation

  • Parent's name (printed)

  • Parent's signature

  • Parent contact information - i.e. cell phone number, email, etc.

Please call to verify that your fax was received.  Do not send transportation changes to the teachers via email.
