The Superintendent Visits Norton Park
Cobb County Superintendent Dr. Michael Hinojosa stopped by Norton Park recently to say, "Hello!" Hinojosa
makes weekly visits to all of the schools under his charge.
Everyone in the District looks forward to one of his Wednesday walk-throughs, including Norton Park
Principal Dr. Doug Daugherty. “It was great to have him come visit us again this year – he took a good look around and
enjoyed all of the great instruction we have going on here in the ‘best school in all of Georgia’!”
Norton Park is an America’s Choice School serving the Smyrna area with nearly 800 students with a diverse
student population of English-, Spanish-speaking and other languages and dialects as well. Several hundred students are
served through the ESOL program or English Speakers of Other Languages. There are a lot of positive and rewarding activities
happening in the school in addition to high-level and engaging instruction: Art, Garden and Fitness clubs, Spelling Bee,
Reading Bowl, Sparks Mentoring, Academic Eagles and Saturday School, just to name a few. After being escorted around the
building by Principal Dr. Daugherty, Hinojosa was all smiles and enthusiastically encouraged all Eagles to
“keep up the great work!”
