The Mountain Receives Top Ratings

The 2020 rankings of Niche are now available at Niche.com. Niche gathers and analyzes school data from across the United States to help parents understand school data and make informed decisions about the school they send their children to attend. According to Niche, Pine Mountain has been ranked in the top 13% (#71 of 535) of all public middle schools in Georgia and earned an overall Niche rating of an A-! And, as for our teachers? Well, our teachers were rated in the top 12% (#64 of 529) in Georgia! To make things even more amazing, regarding diversity, our school was rated as being in the top 1% (#384 of 25,988) of the most diverse public middle schools in the United States.

Using USA Testprep at Home

Every Pine Mountain Middle School student can benefit from using USA Test Prep to improve Milestones scores. This home-based internet program is simple to use and your child already has a member login account. Teachers can actually monitor how often your student uses the program. USA Test Prep supports language arts, reading, mathematics, science, and social studies by breaking down questions into the same domains as tested on the Georgia Milestones through vocabulary, tests, practice, games, and videos. Encourage your child to get started and log as many hours as he or she can, even if just playing the games. And if you are up for the challenge, it makes for great family trivia too! You will be amazed at the academically challenging work your student is expected to know.

The computer assisted tutorial program can not only help students who are struggling with particular topics in a subject area, it can also help provide enrichment to students to assist them in learning at higher levels.

Access USATestprep here.

Giving Tree 2019

The time has come to show just how mighty the Mustang Community is with our generosity. This year we have 20 Mustang families in need during the holiday season. Please help us give back to our Pine Mountain Middle School family by simply taking an ornament from the Giving Tree housed in the front office of PMMS. Each ornament has a child’s list or a singular item requested by a deserving family. After purchasing the gift, please return it to the school's front office  unwrapped with the ornament attached by the morning of 12/16/19.

Please spread the word:).

Thanks so much in advance for your generosity!

CLIMB Coding Games Created by 6th Grade

Our 6th grade designed video games, stories, or animation to teach our students about the new CLIMB program at Pine Mountain Middle. Our students learned and used Scratch, a computer programming language designed by MIT ( Massachusetts Institute of Technology) to teach students how to code. We are so proud of their work. They did an amazing job.

Ms. Jezequel Congratulates Art Students' First Place Win!

The weather cooperated and our kids were able to leave Chalktoberfest this weekend with a FIRST PLACE award!! It was a lot of fun for everyone and I am so proud of the work our students created (inspired by the Disney-Pixar movie, “Coco”)!

Please congratulate the following students when you see them on their teamwork, dedication, talent, and incredible representation of Pine Mountain Middle School in our community: David P., Julian S., Lily A., Mayra M., Melina D., Jeremiah J.G., Sam O., Abby C., Andy W., and Arielle T..

In our prize package we won a gift card to the School Box to purchase supplies for our class, a pre-paid admission for a PMMS team to compete in the Spring Chalk Art Festival at Kennesaw State University, and 2 tickets for each student who participated to attend the Marietta Museum of Art!

Overview of a School Day
Don't forget, middle schools in CCSD begin at 9:15 am. To help you plan for your adjustment to middle school, below is an overview of what a typical day looks like.

Students arriving between 8:30 am and 8:50 am should report to the cafeteria for study hall. Students should not arrive prior to 8:30 am.
At 8:50 am all students will be released to their lockers and then go to their homeroom teacher. Students arriving after 8:50 am should go to their locker and then report to their homeroom teacher. Homeroom is sixth and seventh grade students first period class. For eighth grade students, homeroom is students fourth period class. At 9:15 am first period will begin for sixth and seventh grade students. They will remain in their homeroom class as it is also their first period class. At 9:20 am eighth graders will transition from homeroom to first period.

Students arriving after the 9:15 bell that starts the school day will need to sign in tardy at the Main Office.
Students will attend seven classes which are approximately 50 minutes in length.

Students will have scheduled locker access. Students should not share lockers or give out their locker combinations to others. Students who have PE/Health will also have a locker in the gym area. Students should not share this combination either.

Dismissal will be at 4:15 pm. Students needing to get a music instrument will then be able to go to the appropriate music room and then go out to either the bus port or the front of the school for car riders and walkers.
In regard to students walking home or being picked up from school, please remember that students who walk home must use the cross walk located by the bus port. Students being picked up must remain under the front porch of the school until their ride arrives in the car pickup lane (beginning where the banners are and ending at the front doors).
