News and Announcements

To our Families:

Cobb County School District Title I Department appreciates the partnerships we have with our families. As the parent/guardian of a child attending a Title I school, you are an important part of the Title I team. Your input is vital in the planning and implementation of the family engagement program and activities in our schools and those provided by the District. The focus of all Title I programs is to help eligible students meet the same high academic achievement standards expected of all children, regardless of their socioeconomic status and background. The following surveys are confidential and will be used to assist us with future planning for family engagement initiatives and events.

We appreciate your feedback and thank you for taking the time to complete the survey.

Vounteer of the Year: Mary Beth Harris

Mary Beth Harris

Mary Beth Harris, known to her students as Ms. Bebe, lives in the Smyrna/Vinings Community. Bebe reached out to administration at the beginning of the year and asked how she might support SES. As a retired teacher, Bebe wanted to use her expertise to support students. Bebe volunteers two days each week tutoring Kindergarten students on letter and sound recognition, rhyming words, and sight words. In addition to volunteering, Bebe donates money each month to the Principal's Lunch Fund to cover the cost of meals for students in need. Our Kindergarten students and teachers appreciate and adore Ms. Bebe!

Due to numerous peanut allergies, Smyrna Elementary is a peanut-sensitive school. We ask that parents not send any food items or snacks containing peanuts or peanut products. Our cafeteria serves SunButter, a peanut-free, tree-nut free alternative.
