New Immunization Requirements for 2014-2015 

The Georgia Department of Public Health has released new immunization requirements for Georgia students.  In addition to the immunizations currently required, all students born on or after January 1, 2002 who are entering 7th grade, and new entrants to Georgia schools in grades 8-12 will be required to have the Tdap (Tetnus, Diptheria and Pertussis) and meningococcal conjugate vaccines before entering school for the 2014-2015 school year.

Title I School Wide Plan
The Title I school wide plan, parent involvement policy, and compact parent input meetings will be Wednesday, April 16th. There will be two meetings, one at 8:30 am and one at 4:30 pm, both in the media center.

Substitute Teacher Openings
The School District will host TWO Substitue Job Fairs on Tuesday 4/22/2014 from 9:00 am untill 11:00 am. For applicants interested in substituting for the North Area Schools (North of Powder Springs including North Marietta, East Cobb, Kennesaw and Acworth) the job fair will be held at Piedmont Baptist Church located at 570 Piedmont Road, Marietta, 30066. For applicants interested in substituting for the South Area Schools (includes Smyrna, Powder Springs, Austell and Mableton -- South Marietta area), the job fair will be held at Skyview ElementarySchool located at 5805 Dunn Road, Mableton, 30126. To attend applicatnts must complete the following requirements:
1. RSVP by sending an email to either jobfairnorth@cobbk12.org or jobfairsouth@cobbk12.org. You can only RSVP to one fair and this should be the geographic area you plan to work as a substitute. You must RSVP by 4/15/2014.
2. Bring a resume with you to the fair detailing all of your work and educational experience.
3. Be prepared to briefly meet with an Administrator.
We appreciate your interest in positively impacting our Cobb County students and teachers! We look forward to meeting you at the job fair.

Tapp's Annual Day of Service
was a great success. Thank you to the 80+ parents, students, staff, and community volunteers who assisted. Special thank you to McEachern Memorial United Methodist Church for organizing the event. Thank you to the Tapp Foundation Board members who led the campus beautification project and donors who financed the landscaping projects. A HUGE THANK YOU to Home Depot employees Chris Rock, Shawn Barnes, Mia Carey-Hubbert and Pro Desk of local Home Depot Store #6940 for making our garden dream a reality.

Tapp's Million Word Readers
On Thursday, March 13, Tapp celebrated students who have read over a million words or more this year. Students recieved a certificate, a free book and a bookmark.

Tapp Students Meet with Martin Luther King Family Members
On Monday, January 13, forty Tapp students participated in a tour of the MLK birth place and center. They also participated in a discussion on managing conflicts in their daily lives based on Dr. King's philosophy of nonviolence with members of the King family including daughter Dr. Bernice King and niece, Angela Farris Watkins. Tapp students were commended by the King family for their insightful questions and scholarly behavior.

RISING 6TH GRADE IMMUNIZATION UPDATES NEEDED BEFORE SCHOOL STARTS IN THE FALL.
Start your children's middle school years off right! Updated immunization certificates should be given to your elementary school as soon as possible. Immunizations should include 2 doses of Measles and Mumps vaccine, 1 dose of Rubella vaccine, and 2 doses of Varicella vaccine.
