Georgia Parent Survey

We value our parents’ opinions at Varner Elementary and are asking for your feedback. Please take a moment to complete the Georgia Parent Survey before Friday, March 27, 2015. This Survey is used by the Georgia Department of Education to calculate Varner’s School Climate Star Rating.  The survey is only available online at the link provided below and may be accessed from any internet-connected device.

The Georgia Parent Survey has 24 questions and should take no more than 5-10 minutes to complete. After you click on the survey link, a drop-down menu will appear. Use the drop-down menu to select "Cobb County" as the school district and then the next drop-down menu to select “Varner Elementary School”. You may access the Spanish version of the Survey by clicking on Español located at the top left hand side of the survey. Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis. Data results from the Georgia Parent Survey will not be available to the public and will not be posted online. We appreciate you taking time to complete the survey.

**A BIG Thank You to all of our Guest Readers who joined us for our Read Across America Day.**

**Candy Bar Sales**

Well, the optimistic way to look at it is this... We outdid last year and then some in just 3 days.

In other words, our sale is such a success so far that WE RAN OUT OF CANDY BARS.

What that means is, we will be unable to deliver any more refills until MONDAY, when our next shipment comes in.

IMPORTANT:  We cannot process refills until you have turned in ALL the money from your previous order.  ($60 for each box...  $20 for each bag.)  Please do not send in partial amounts - wait until you have sold everything.   Then send in the money with a reorder form.  Please do not email requests for more candy bars, as we must follow this procedure for accurate accounting of the total candy bars sold..

Reorder forms were sent home with EVERY BOX and BAG of candy.  If you do not have a reorder form, please print one from the attached form.   EVERY time you reorder, you will get another reorder form - please make sure to send that reorder form back to get your next box or bag of candy bars - as it may have a note on it to help us keep up with what you have sold.

Again, we will start filling re-orders on Monday.  Some orders were filled tonight to go home tomorrow... that is when we ran out.

PLEASE bear with us - and keep selling!!

Fire Lane Changes for Schools

On March 13, 2012, the Cobb County Fire Lane Ordinance was amended to include a provision for student pick-up at schools. The ordinance now allows a vehicle to be located in a fire lane for 30 minutes prior to the afternoon school end time and 30 minutes after the school end time, as long as a driver is behind the wheel. Cobb County school end times are available on the Cobb County School District website. The ordinance applies to private schools as well. Stopping or parking a vehicle in a fire lane at any other time is prohibited, unless passengers are actively loading or unloading. Enforcement of this new provision will begin on April 9, 2012. Fire lanes can be identified by “No Parking Fire Lane” signage and/or curbing that is red in color. Fire lane violations currently result in a fine of $135.00.
