Acworth's 2013-2014 Activities Plan

Attention Acworth Parents/Guardians
of Acworth Allstars

The Georgia Department of Education is administering a ”Georgia Parent Survey” for the 2013-2014 school year.  This is the first year that the Georgia Parent Survey has been administered.  The questions on the Georgia Parent Survey will mirror the school climate questions on the Georgia School Personnel survey.  Data from the Georgia Parent Survey will be used to calculate the School Climate Star Rating within the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) to determine a correlation between the student responses and the school personnel responses on the Georgia School Personnel Survey.  The Georgia Parent Survey is now open and will remain open through Friday, Jan. 31, 2014.

The Georgia Parent Survey will be administered electronically.  Parents will be able to complete the survey using their personal computers, smartphones or ipads.  For parents that do not have access to the Internet, you may schedule a time to use the computer in our Title I Parent Resource Room.  Please contact Ms. Ellen Zarach, our Title I parent liaison to schedule this.  The Georgia parent Survey has 20 questions and it should take no more than 5-10 minutes to complete it.  Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis.  Data results from the Georgia Parent Survey will not be available to the public and will not be posted online.

All parents are invited to participate in the Georgia Parent Survey.  However, there is no mandatory participation rate.  Please note that although there is not mandatory participation rate, responses from the Georgia Parent Survey will be used to calculate the School Climate Star Rating for Acworth Intermediate.

The link to the Georgia Parent Survey is posted below.  After you click on the link, a drop-down menu will appear and the parents will use the drop-down menu to select their school district and their school.  If you have problems locating our school using the drop-down menu, please contact us.

Reading Program at Acworth

Acworth Elementary School again welcomes CAREing Paws, the Georgia Chapter of the National Organization of  R.E.A.D.   R.E.A.D. stands for Reading Educational Assistance Dogs.  We now have our very own team consisting of a handler and a R.E.A.D dog.  Ms. D and Bear have been trained to support the reading program here at Acworth.  Bear loves to hear students read stories to him, so he has the pleasure of listening to our students read 2 days a week during the ASP/RSP hours.  Bear is an All-Star dog because he loves to read!
