Enjoy! School Resumes February 25th

Let's Celebrate Read Across America!

KSU Football Players will read books in the classrooms – Wear Black & Gold to celebrate.
Celebrate the book One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish and estimate how many
goldfish are in the bowl. Winner gets the bowl full of goldfish!
Give the gift of reading by donating a new or gently used book for a local charity. If you
donate you can have your photo taken in the media center with special Dr. Seuss props.
You’ll also receive a printed photo.
Celebrate the book What Pet Should I Get? and draw a picture and/or write about your
favorite kind of pet. You can also make up your own “Dr. Seuss” style pet. Submissions will
be displayed in the hallway outside the media center.
It’s Dr. Seuss’ birthday, Read Across America Day AND Book Character Dress-Up day!  Choose your favorite book (no masks please).

We are so excited to announce that 4 students also won at the county level this year!!! Additional Congratulations to: Adeline Morley, Alexandria Wallace, Anahelle Villefranche and Shreya Ram. These students were honored with a reception hosted by the ECCC PTA before the holidays. Their entries have now been submitted for competition at the state level!!! Winners are expected to be announced later this month. All 9 school winners will attend an awards ceremony in their honor at Garrison Mill on Jan 24th (prior to International Night).

Kindergarten Screening for Gifted Services

At Garrison Mill, all kindergarten students will automatically be screened in the spring for potential need of gifted services. The parents of students requiring further evaluation will be contacted. For further information about the screening process please read: Kindergarten Screening

Iowa Assessment Information

Students are assessed in the fall on the Iowa Assessments. This is a norm-referenced assessment that measures student achievement in comparison to other students nationwide. Students in grades 3, 5, and 7 are tested in Reading, Mathematics, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. Read More...

Late Arrivals and
Early Dismissals

For the safety of all students, if your child arrives after 7:50 AM,  you must sign your child in at the PTA desk in the lobby. No transportation changes or dismissals are  permitted after 1:40 PM.

Inclement Weather

We encourage our staff and parents to listen to News/Talk 750 WSB (750 on the AM radio dial) when winter weather threatens. In addition, the News/Talk 750 WSB website provides a complete and frequently updated list of school closings online at: www.wsbradio.com.

In the event of an early dismissal due to inclement weather, the After School Program (ASP) will also be closed.

Bus Pass

Students are permitted to ride a different bus or get off at a different stop, if there is a childcare need. The Bus Pass form must be completed in advance and returned to the front office for authorization. Students may not ride a different bus for playdates, parties, sleepovers, etc.
