PERSONALIZED GRADUATION SIGNS

Attention parents of graduating seniors! The Kell Foundation is offering personalized graduation yard signs to celebrate this accomplishment. They are a great deal at only $20.  More information is available HERE.

GOVERNOR'S HONORS PROGRAM

Seven Kell students have been chosen as finalists for the 2012 Georgia Governor's Honors Program (GHP):

  • Nailah Ellis - Communicative Arts

  • Kathryn Marquis - Communicative Arts

  • James Bradberry - Design

  • Riki Kujanpaa - Design

  • Sara Mashburn - German

  • Nicholas Perez - Music

  • Rashaad Green - Music

The students will spend four weeks this summer at the program held at Vadosta State University.  Those attending GHP are nominated by teachers, and then must pass two rigorous interviews and/or auditions. Less than 1% of Georgia’s high school students qualify for this honor.

INTERNATIONAL NIGHT

Mark your calendars now for the return of Kell's International Night.  It will be held in the cafeteria on Wednesday, April 25th from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.  The evening will include food and performances from a variety of cultures represented here at Kell.

Also, it's not too late if you would like to participate!  We still have room for families who would like to contribute in the following ways:

  • Information Tables - Represent your home country or culture with an information table. Exhibit your favorite traditional costume, artwork, photographs, or video of your culture.

  • Food - Present an authentic dish from your country.

  • Performances - Perform traditional songs, dances or anything else to represent your unique cultural heritage.

MATH PROGRAM SURVEY

Cobb County School District's Curriculum and Instruction Division is undergoing a program evaluation for Mathematics.  As part of the ongoing program evaluation cycle, a survey is being conducted to gather opinions about the quality of educational programs in Cobb County Schools.

KELL INCLUDED IN ATLANTA MAGAZINE'S "BEST PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOLS" IN ATLANTA

Atlanta magazine included Kell High School among its list of the 50 best public high schools in the metro area! For the first time, the magazine ranked schools on measures of college readiness, including SAT scores, graduation test scores, graduation rate, Advanced Placement testing, learning support and HOPE scholarship eligibility. BAND WINS 2ND AT BANDS OF AMERICA

The Kell Marching Band placed 2nd at the Bands of America regional competition that was held at Jacksonville State University this past weekend.  They performed wonderfully, represented the school well, and showed class and good sportsmanship the entire day!

They have been working EXTREMELY hard for the past couple of months, and their final competition will wrap up in the Georgia Dome on October 29th. Please congratulate these amazing students on their achievements and wish them the best of luck for the remainder of the season.

MOVE ON WHEN READY

Move On When Ready is a new dual enrollment opportunity for students to attend a postsecondary institution full-time during their junior and/or senior year of high school and receive high school credit and college credit simultaneously while attending college classes on the college campus, full-time.

Over the past three years Gas South has been a great partner of Kell High School donating over $15,000 through their unique affinity program. This program provides Kell families, teachers, and community members discounted natural gas rates while helping to raise money for our school. We are proud of this relationship and need your help in maintaining it. It is our hope that this information will encourage you to help us reach an immediate goal of 100 participants.

Here are the benefits:
