The School District will host TWO Substitute Job Fairs on Tuesday 4/22/14 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am.  For applicants interested in substituting for the North Area Schools (North of Powder Springs including North Marietta, East Cobb, Kennesaw and Acworth) the job fair will be held at Piedmont Baptist Church located at 570 Piedmont Road, Marietta, 30066.  For applicants interested in substituting for the South Area Schools (Includes Smyrna, Powder Springs, Austell, and Mableton—South Marietta area), the job fair will be held at Skyview Elementary School located at 5805 Dunn Road, Mableton, 30126. To attend applicants must complete the following REQUIREMENTS:

1-RSVP by sending an email to EITHER jobfairnorth@cobbk12.org  OR  jobfairsouth@cobbk12.org. You can only RSVP to one fair and this should be the geographic area you plan to work as a substitute. You must RSVP by 4/15/14.

2-Bring a resume with you to the fair detailing all of your work and educational experience.

3-Be prepared to briefly meet with an Administrator.

Join us for the McCleskey PTSA Book Fair this week only!

The Fair is open all this week April 14 - April 18 in the Staff Development Room to the right off the hall leading to 7th grade commons.

Open all mornings from 8:15 - 9:15 AM and all day long Tuesday, April 15th and Thursday, April 17th.


Directions for creating a student/parent account in USA Test Prep:

·         Go to the McCleskey website: www.cobbk12.org/McCleskey

·         Click on the links tab

·         Click on USA Test Prep

·         Type in Georgia

·         Click go

·         Click on the Georgia Middle School – I am a parent/student link

·         Click Login

·         The Account ID is: mccleskeyga

·         Click on Create an Account

·         The student/parent activation code is: newton48

·         Complete the login information. If you are creating a student account, use the student ID and password that you use at school – just like what you use for Synergy.  If you are creating a parent account, use whatever information you would like.  Giving an email is optional for both students and parents.

·         Scroll down and check the “I Agree” box

·         You should now be in the USA Test Prep sight to use the practice assessments for the grade level subject areas.

·         Select a subject area from the appropriate grade level pull down menu

·         Select the practice tab

·         Select level

·         Select domain

·         Select an activity from one of the categories (Questions, Vocabulary, Puzzles, or Skillwork)

·         Select “Do not report to a teacher”

·         Create your own assessmentsJ


Effective July 1, 2014, all children born on or after January 1, 2002 who are entering 7th grade, and new entrants* to Georgia schools in grades 8- 12 will be required to have Tdap (Tetanus, Diptheria and Pertussis) and meningococcal conjugate vaccines before entering school for the 2014-2015 school year. Visit Cobb Public Health or your private physician to get these vaccines NOW.

*New entrants include anyone that is entering Georgia schools for the first time or is returning to a Georgia school after being gone for more than 12 months or one school year.

Georgia Tech Opportunity for Girls!!!

Georgia Tech would like to invite your middle school girls who are currently in 6th and 7th grade to our upcoming TEC (Technology, Engineering & Computer) Camp, which will be held from June 9 – 13, 2014 on the Georgia Tech campus.

 

This fun and interactive camp is hosted by the Georgia Tech Women in Engineering Program and is designed to give girls an early introduction to the exciting world of engineering with the hope of inspiring them to eventually consider college majors and careers as engineers.  More information on the camp can be found in the attached flyer.

Due to the fact that our busses are currently all operating at maximum capacity, all students must ride the bus they are assigned to, and no bus passes will be available at this time. Stay tuned for additional updates.




The PSTA is currently carrying Ear Buds and Flash Drives for sale due to teacher requests for these to be provided by students and their families for use in classes.

Parents Encouraged To Review New Common 
Core Standards

The new Common Core Georgia Performance Standards (CCGPS) are being implemented. Learn more about how these new standards will better prepare Cobb County students for future college and career choices on a special section of the District website.

Clubs and Activities

Intramurals begin at 8:00. Please enter at the front and remain in the lower lobby until a PE teacher comes to get you.  No students are admitted to intramurals after 8:00.

Robotics  - Mondays and Thurdays until 5:30

Garden Club - Wednesdays until 5:15

Fitness Friday - every Friday @ 8:00

Yearbook - yearbook staff only Thursdays @ 8:00

NJHS - 1st & 3rd Tuesdays @ 8:15

Hat Days - every Wednesday - pay $1, wear a hat for Relay for Life

Chick-Fil-A - every Friday AM $2.50

Smoothie sales - every Tuesday AM $2.50
