Meet and Greet Information
Meet and Greet will be held on Friday, July 28th from 8am-9:30am.  This is the perfect time for students to meet their teachers and for parents to get valuable information such as bus routes, PTA membership and volunteer opportunities, after-school registration and more.  We look forward to seeing our Nicholson stars on the 28th!

Summer Reading Information!
Reading during the summer is important!  It helps students maintain, and even improve the reading progress made during the school year, and prevents 'summer academic slide'--the loss of academic skills during the summer months.  Cobb County Schools, Scholastic, and the Cobb County Public Library system are partnering to provide all the resources needed for parents and students to read and have fun this summer!  For more information, click here to go to the Media Center blog.

New Ipad Visitor Check-in Procedure
Beginning Thursday, April 27th, Nicholson Elementary will be piloting a new IPAD Visitor Check-in process in the Nicholson front office. This new system will require ALL visitors to initially check in with their driver’s license, email and phone number. Once entered, a picture will be taken and a sticker will be printed out. This sticker will now replace the yellow stickers we have been using and has a QR code that will be scanned by the same IPAD in the front office upon your departure.

Nicholson is pleased to pilot this new process because it has proven to add another layer of safety and security for our students… Always our first priority.

Mrs. Karen Hersey Wins Georgia Teachers of Mathematics Award!
Fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Karen Hersey, received the Georgia Council of Mathematics award on Wednesday, October 26.  Three awards, one each for elementary, middle and secondary schools, are given to excellent teachers in the state of Georgia, who have strong content foundations in mathematics appropriate for their teaching level, show evidence of growth in the teaching of mathematics, and show evidence of professional involvement in both the Georgia and National Councils of Teachers of Mathematics.  Nicholson is very proud of Mrs. Hersey, and her accomplishments!

Does your student have an Office 365 account?
If you use Office 365 through your child's student account, please be aware that the passwords have been changed.  The password is your child's network password, which is now their birthdate in month/day format.  For example, if your child's birthday is April 7, their password is 0407.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Messinger in the Media Center @ lisa.messinger@cobbk12.org

Student Dismissal Transportation Changes
Dismissal is one of the most important times in our day.  We work hard to ensure that our students get to their afterschool destination safely.  We will not take transportation changes over the phone, via fax or via email.  This is a safety measure that we MUST enforce to keep your child safe.  The Nicholson Transportation Change form, with a signature, must be sent in with your student in order for us to change your student’s afternoon transportation.  If the student arrives in the morning without this form the parent/guardian must come into the front office to fill one out since a signature is mandatory.

If you are picking up your student at dismissal and do not have a carpool tag, it is necessary for you to come into the front office and show identification before we can release the student into your custody.

All early dismissals or transportation changes must be received before 1:45 pm.

  New!! Car Rider Dismissal Expectations
Please review with your children!

1. Students are expected to be silent.

2. Students are expected to sit in their zone.

3. Students are expected to follow staff directions.

*Staff will be handing out Star Bucks during dismissal as positive reinforcement.

*If parents do not have their car tag, they are expected to come inside to sign out their child. This is to ensure your child’s safety.
