The staff of Lovinggood Middle School is dedicated to promoting an environment that fosters an alliance among staff, students, parents, and community. Each one of us is committed to educating and encouraging intellectually reflective adolescents en route to a lifetime of meaningful work.
Beliefs that guide us:
All students must be given the opportunity to develop their individual gifts.
Schools must set high academic and social expectations.
Schools must have challenging learning environments which provide strategies and skills to develop independent thinking and lifelong learning.
Teachers must be knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and passionate about their subject matter and student achievement.
Schools must provide an emotionally and physically safe environment for all students to achieve their maximum potential.
Parents, teachers, and students must work together to reinforce a positive climate.

The Cobb County Board of Education unanimously approved a five-year, $798 million capital improvements plan for schools to be funded by an extension of the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST). The current SPLOST expires on Dec. 31, 2008 and can be extended only with approval by Cobb County voters. The school board approved the plan as part of a resolution calling for a SPLOST III public referendum to be held Sept. 16, 2008. A SPLOST is a one-cent sales tax on all retail goods sold in Cobb County.

Book bags must be able to fit in the locker. Rolling bookbags will not work. The locker dimensions are approximately 1foot (width) x 3 feet (length).
When planning your wardrobe for next year, take a close look at the school’s dress code. The most common infractions are as follows: (1) Skirts or shorts that are not long enough. The fabric must be below your longest finger. An inch of fabric below the longest finger is a good rule to follow. (2) Shower shoes worn as sandals or flip flops are another violation. Flip flops must have some decoration or have hard or thick soles to be worn at school. (3) Athletic shorts are only permitted for gym classes. Make sure you dress for success.

Plan ahead for the hustle and bustle before the school year begins. Visit the district’s website for the Meal Pay Program (school lunch) and Bus Locator. You will also find information about Cobb Board policies (“I” Instruction, “J” Student Code of Conduct). Finally, if your child needs to carry medicine, look for the permission form.
