Wheeler Success at Science Olympiad!

Wheeler High School Science Olympiad had two teams compete at the Georgia Tech Regional Competition this past Saturday.  Wheeler High School Team 1 placed 2nd overall, which earned Wheeler a place at the state competition on March 21, 2015 at Emory.

The combined team medal counts are as follows: 1st place in 7 events
2nd place in 8 events
3rd place in 5 events
4th place in 1 event

The following students won medals at the competition: Vedaja Surapaneni, Jesse Gutierrez, Tori Kraj, Shawn Doss, Abigail Kimber, Sabrena Rutledge, Jerry Yao, Alissa Ji, Karan Achtani, Angela Su, Kar Shin Lin, Katherine Reuben, Martin Cheung, Layla Grazulis, Joshua Mishkin, Suhail Singh, and Erikon Gou.

Wheeler named a Georgia AP Honor School for 2015

Wheeler High School was awarded as a 2015 AP STEM ACHIEVEMENT SCHOOL,  2015 AP STEM SCHOOL,  and 2015 AP HUMANITIES SCHOOL

AP STEM Achievement Schools are schools with students testing in at least two AP math courses and two AP science courses and at least 40 percent of the exam scores on AP math and AP science exams earning scores of 3 or higher

AP STEM Schools are schools with students testing in at least two AP math courses and two AP science courses (AP Calculus AB, AB Calculus BC, AP Statistics, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Environmental Science, AP Physics B, AP Physics C, AP Computer Science)

AP Humanities Schools are schools with students testing in all of the following AP courses: at least one ELA course, two social science courses, one fine arts course and one world language course

Attention Wheeler Seniors!  The Who's Who Application is now available online.  The deadline to complete your application is March 6.

Who's Who Application 2015


Wheeler Center for Advanced Studies Magnet students, Karan Achtani, Henrik Boecken, Alissa Ji, and Paul Miloro achieved finalist ranking in the international High School Mathematical Contest in Modeling (HiMCM). HiMCM offers students the opportunity to compete in a team setting using mathematics to present solutions to real-world modeling problems.  Wheeler's team's solution was deemed to be one of the top 40 submissions from more than 700 high school teams from around the world.

The 3rd Annual Wheeler STEAM is coming on March 26, 2015.  This exciting night is an opportunity for students to present cross-curricular projects with real-world applications to guests from around our community.  For more information, please click here.

2015-2016 School Choice

The Cobb County School District is again offering School Choice (HB 251 and SB10) transfers for the 2015-2016 school year.  Individual school capacity information and applications will be available beginning February 1, 2015 on the District website.  For more information, please see our 2015-16 School Choice webpage.

Georgia Parent Surveys

Parents, please take time to complete the climate survey. The Georgia Parent Survey is modeled after the student survey and contains 24 questions.  A Spanish version of the parent survey will be available soon.  Parents, you can complete the survey using your personal computers, smartphones or iPads.   All parents are encouraged to participate in the Georgia Parent Survey because the data will be used to calculate the School Climate Star Rating, which one part of the CCRPI rating. Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis.  Data results from the Georgia Parent Survey will not be available to the public and will not be posted online.

Construction Update

AP Exam Registration Available

Although AP Exams are not until May, students may register online now.  The deadline for registration is March 20, 2015.  For more info about the AP Exam registration process and Alternate Final Exam Policy, click here.

AP Transportation and Absence Information

Early Release Days - May 20 & 21

Wheeler High School will dismiss at 11:38 am on May 20 and May 21.  Students will complete their final exams those days.

ADAP (Alcohol and Drugs Awareness Program)

By law, Georgia teens under the age of 18 are required to successfully complete ADAP in order to obtain their Class D Georgia driver’s license.  Please click here to take advantage of eADAP.

Wildcat Nation!

This year Wheeler Athletics will sponsor a tailgate party before each home football game.  The Wheeler tailgate party is a social event / pep rally that will be held in the south end of our bus port. Tailgating, an American tradition, involves playing loud music, participating in leisure games, and grilling food. Tailgate parties usually occur in parking lots at stadiums, before games.  Many people participate even if their vehicles do not have a tailgate. In schools and communities throughout the United States, there are athletic departments, coaches and parents of student athletes who rely on pre-game tailgating parties to build community and support for their program and team. Wheeler’s Tailgate was developed to energize the Wildcat Nation and establish a strong core of support year after year. 

Wheeler’s Tailgate:

When:  Before every home Varsity Football game at 4:30 PM

Where:  Bus Port Bay - adjacent to café, Fieldhouse, and bus pavilion.
