Wheeler Shines Again!
Department of Education announced the 2013-2014 Advanced
Placement (AP) Honor Schools, recognizing schools that have
increased access to rigorous AP coursework. Thank you
and Congratulations to our AP Coordinator, students, and
teachers for their dedication and success. This year,
Wheeler was among 15 Cobb high schools recognized. Wheeler
was honored in two of the four unique categories, based on the
results of last year’s AP exams. Those categories are:
students testing in at least two (2) AP math courses and two (2)
AP science courses (AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP
Statistics, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Environmental Science,
AP Physics B, AP Physics C, AP Computer Science)
2014 AP STEM
students testing in at least 2 AP math courses and 2 AP science
courses and at least 40% of the exam scores on AP math and AP
science exams earning scores of three (3) or higher

School Science Olympiad team.
Erick Dejesus and
Their pieces were chosen for the 2014 Dogwood festival. A
digital piece by Erick and a clay piece by Rachel were
chosen from the 50 pieces of the state-wide competition. The
78th Dogwood Festival will be held at Piedmont Park April 11
– 13. Only 4 cobb county schools were chosen.
They competed in the regional competition at Georgia Perimeter
College Saturday, March 1.
The Wheeler Gold Team came in 8th place overall.
Wheeler Gold won 2nd place in Compound Machines and 4th
place in Dynamic Planet.

Parents, we need your help!
take a moment and assist Wheeler High School in measuring our
school’s climate by completing the Georgia Parent Survey. The
Georgia Parent Survey is being administered for the first time
during the 2013-14 school year by the Georgia Department of
Education (GaDOE) and is open through Friday, February 28, 2014.
Data from the survey will be used, as one variable, to calculate
Wheeler High School’s Climate Star Rating within the College and
Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI). The survey’s
webpage is available electronically on personal computers,
smartphones or iPads consisting of 20 questions and should not
take more than 5-10 minutes for completion.

Raymond Chevy Drive for Perfection
Test Drive a New Chevrolet and Support
Wheeler! Wheeler has a chance to receive a monetary donation
from Steve Rayman Chevrolet through an upcoming “Test Drive
Period.” You can go to Steve Rayman Chevrolet at 2155 Cobb
Parkway in Marietta and for each test drive through the rest of
November Wheeler will receive a $50 donation, new or pre-owned.
Once you make your test drive, ask for a voucher that gives you
a code and directs you online to
enter the code and select Wheeler High School. It’s that
easy! Last year we raised over $1100 dollars. We are competing
against Osborne High School! Also, from now through the end of
the year, our school will get a $100 donation per new and
pre-owned car bought by a Wheeler family.
