Young Writers Shine: Cobb Fourth Graders Win Silver Pen Awards

May 28, 2026 — The Kiwanis Club of Marietta surprised five 4th-grade students at school to let them know they were the 2026 winners of the club’s annual Silver Pen Award.
Students from across Cobb submitted essays about what they wanted to be when they grew up, as 4th-graders had the chance to write about their futures and what they envisioned.
Whether it was a career in architecture or law, students wrote detailed and thoughtful essays that at times even included drawings as they visualized what their careers might look like.
