Cobb Schools Athlete of the Week program is a weekly recognition of a male and a female student-athlete that perform at high levels on the field, in the classroom, and in their school communities. The program is made possible by support from BSN.

This weeks winners are:

Zoie Johnson, Osborne High School, Flag Football

On Tuesday, 10/12, in two games, Zoie Johnson had:

256 All-purpose yds, 3TDs, 6 Pass deflections, and 1 interception returned for a TD.

"Zoie is a silent leader who leads by example," said her coach Ormond Moore. "She leaves it all out in the field. She means a lot to Osborne as she just represented us last semester in the track and field state championship, and is also a member of the girls basketball team. Most important of all, she’s carrying a 4.1 GPA!"

This is Osborne's second week in a row with an Athlete of the Week selection. It shows that there's a lot of great athletes and scholars walking through the halls at the Marietta school. "It’s great that our athletes are receiving county-wide recognition for their hard work and dedication to their team," said Osborne Athletic Director, Ron Boggs.

Dwight Phillips Jr., Pebblebrook High School, Football

Dwight turned in an amazing performance in Pebblebrook's upset of last year's region-winner, East Coweta. With 12 carries for 237 yards and 2 TDs, Dwight was a major factor in that win that catapulted the Falcons into the top-ten in 7A for the first time since 2003. Pebblebrook was also voted as Team of the Week.

"Dwight is one of the most humble players we have on our team," said head coach Leroy Hood. "He's a leader on our team and the sky's the limit for this kid. This won't be the last time you hear about Dwight Phillips."

"He's only a sophomore, but Dwight is already an amazing student-athlete," said Athletic Director Brittny Jones. "We're excited how he contributes on the field, but also in the classroom. He's an outstanding leader at Pebblebrook both on and off the field. We're so happy to have him here."
