Sibling Transfers

Parents/guardians of a student who has a sibling already enrolled in a District school through an approved transfer may apply for a younger sibling to attend the same school in accordance with District Administrative Rule JBCD-R. This provision attempts to address siblings enrolled in different schools at the same time due to an approved transfer. A sibling is defined as a brother, sister, step-brother, or step-sister living in the same household and who otherwise meets the requirements for enrollment.  The application window for the 2018-2019 school year will be open from January 4, 2018 through January 31, 2018.  For more information about this opportunity, and for a link to the online application, visit

Volunteers Needed!

North Georgia Fair Food Booth with Cobb County Sheriff’s Office

The Cobb County Sheriff’s Office has been our partner in education for many years. Representatives from the Sheriff’s Office volunteer their time, resources and talents for our students many times a month. The biggest fund raiser they have for their Partners in Education Fund is to sponsor a food booth at the North Georgia State Fair. This can bring in up to $10,000 which in return comes back to Bells Ferry Elementary.

The Sheriff’s Office is in need of volunteers to assist with the food booth. They need Bells Ferry Community Members to help with taking and filling food orders. The North GA State Fair runs from Thursday, September 21st through Sunday, October 1st. Feel free to coordinate your volunteering time with the North Georgia Fair events. Parents may split the hours of the shift but please know that children under the age of 16 years will not be allowed in the booth. High school students needing volunteer hours are more than welcome to sign up!

Benefits of volunteering:

  • Free Fair Parking
  • Free Admission to the Fair
  • Free Meal for Volunteers (from booth)

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Teachers Recognized for Keeping Cobb Green

The award list is part of the Cobb County Green School Initiative, which is a cooperative effort between Cobb County Water System, Keep Cobb Beautiful, and the Cobb County Parks and Recreation Natural Resources Unit. The initiative was designed to recognize Cobb County schools, which demonstrate a commitment to environmental education. To qualify as a Green School, at least five teachers at a school must earn Green Classroom designations. This year, 35 CCSD schools earned the Green School designation. The majority of those schools earned a gold status designation because the schools had at least 15 teachers on the Green Teacher List.
