Welcome to Pope High School

Inspiring students to achieve extraordinary success!
MUST Gobble Jog

Many of you are probably aware that MUST Ministries has a great Thanksgiving morning walk/race to support the feeding of the homeless and less fortunate. But, did you know that one of the top teams every year has been organized by our own Coach Christine Dahlhauser.

We would like to honor her this year by creating the largest team ever to participate and need your help to do that. Those that have participated have found that it is a great way to start the day with all of their family and friends, and the opportunity to honor a great member of the Pope family will make it even more special. You can walk, run, cheer or even sign up if you can’t be there.

We are also entertaining the thought of a pre-race day get together so please email Coach Blythe at William.blythe@cobbk12.org as you sign up to get on the master email list, to ask questions or to make suggestions.

Click here to get started and we look forward to a great turn out.

Pope Takes Third at GHSA One Act

Congratulations to Pope High School for placing third in the GHSA Regional One Act Competition with their production of Much Ado About Nothing!

Pope also won an award for “Best Costumes” and three Pope students were honored with “All Star Cast” awards: Shannon Murphy, Caroline Bergwall and Andrew Antoci. This is a big win for the Pope High School Drama Club as this was their first year competing at the 6A level. They competed against 8 schools.

A big congratulations goes out to the entire cast and crew and to our guest directors from the Atlanta Shakespeare Company who all worked very hard on this amazing show!

Pope Habitat is participating in the High School Coalition Horse Plop Raffle!

In case you don't know what a HORSE PLOP is (I certainly did not):

A large field is marked off in squares and numbered. Each square is sold for $10. On November 15th, 2 horses will be let out into that field. Nature will take its course....the horse "plops" (poops) in a square. The person(s) who owns the ticket with the winning number will be the lucky winner! The 1st square plopped on will get $3000, 2nd square will get $2000 and the 3rd square will get $1000. Also, tickets will be drawn for six $100 and six $50 visa gift cards.

Your chance of winning a prize is 1:267

We are competing with Walton, Wheeler, Campbell and Kennesaw Mountain H4H clubs in the selling of these tickets! Let’s sell the most so someone from the Pope Family will win the prizes!

Tickets are currently on sale in the Media Center! Come get one or two or three! We accept cash or checks made out to Pope HS Habitat!

Please be reminded that October 23-31 is Red Ribbon Week. This year’s theme is Love Yourself, Be Drug Free. Red Ribbon Week is the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the country.

In conjunction with Walton High PTSA, Pope PTSA welcomes ALL parents and students to a presentation from the Davis Direction Foundation founder Missy Owen and Board Member, Tanya Smith, on Tuesday, October 28, at 7pm in the Walton High School Theater.

In celebration of Red Ribbon Week, Pope PTSA also arranged for a “crash car” from Kennesaw Wrecker to be displayed. This car represents what can happen to anyone who is distracted by texting, driving an excessive speed, or under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

SWAG is December 13th, 2014!

What is SWAG?
Seven years ago, Pope High School successfully launched a new community service program called Shop with a Greyhound, or as we fondly call it, SWAG.   By joining our efforts, you are committing to be one of “Santa’s Helpers”.  You will be responsible for raising money in order to take children from Brumby Elementary School shopping for the Holidays.

When is the big day this year?
On December 13, 2014, we will host our 7th annual SWAG event.  By registering, you will be dedicating your time and energy on your child as they enjoy activities here at Pope as well as shopping at Target.  Our goal is to make a positive difference in the lives of these children.

What do I have to do to sign up?
In order to register, you need to visit Pope’s website and complete the online SWAG application.  Then print the permission form, complete it, and turn it in with your $65 donation (see application for donation details) to room 118 in a sealed envelope.  All 3 things (online registration, permission form, and money) must be turned in by October 30th.  Only the first 400 applicants will be accepted

Why do we do this?
It is our belief that Pope students should provide service and leadership to our community.  SWAG is a great community service outreach project that generates good will in the community, yields service hours for Pope club members, and provides the less fortunate with a much needed special day during the holiday season.

Important Dates:
Wednesday, October 15th- online registration open
Thursday, October 30th – online application, permission form and money due
Wednesday, December 10th - SWAG meeting during x-block in theater
Saturday, December 13th- SWAG

Haunted Theater: Noxious Drainpipe

Pope High School Drama Club presents Haunted Theater: Noxious Drainpipe, a unique, theatrical “haunted house” experience (walk-though haunted house). A chemical spill has ruptured in the sewer system and the city has been evacuated. The damage is unknown, and the government has requested that citizens volunteer to scope out and explore the polluted area. While the area has been cited to contain a variety of thugs, bandits, and lowlifes, it should be assured that that no mutations have occurred within its confines…for now…

Dates: October 28, 29, & 30, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Tickets are $5 each and are sold at the door only. Bring two canned goods when you purchase a ticket to get in a second time for free! Canned goods will be donated to Must Ministries in support of the Pope High School Drama Club’s Trick-or-Treat So Kids Can Eat charitable food drive. www.popetheater.org

Starting this year, Pope will have designated Teacher Parking areas. We will not assign specific parking spots, but any parking area that is painted BLUE is designated as teacher parking, and students who park in the teacher sections will be ticketed. Thank you for your cooperation and attention to this new policy.
