Parents are encouraged to participate in the AdvancED Parent Survey. The data from this survey will inform the school and the district about parents' opinions about our school. Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to AdvancED for analysis. Individual data results will not be available to the public and will not be posted online. You may use any personal device to complete this survey. The AdvancED Parent Survey will be open February 22 – April 1. The link to access the survey is http://eprovesurveys.advanc-ed.org/surveys/#/action/922/p913.

AdvancED, formerly SACS, is the non-profit organization that conducts rigorous, on-site reviews of PreK-12 schools and school systems and certifies that accreditation standards are being met.

Today is the first day that parents/guardians may begin apply for School Choice transfers.  Capacity numbers have been posted (see Mr. York’s email from Friday) and the online application is active.  This year we will be accepting application online only.  Therefore we again have a kiosk set up in the lobby at 514 Glover Street for parents to access.

We are again asking that all schools post the following announcement of their website:

2015-16 School Choice

Congratulations to Rachel Stammen

Rachel has been named Allatoona High School’s 2016 STAR Student. Rachel won this award by being in the top 10% of her class and earning the highest SAT score of any member of the senior class. She will receive special recognition and will go on to compete for the system title. As the STAR student, Rachel has the privilege of selecting a STAR teacher, the educator who has had the most influence on her academic achievement throughout her school career. Rachel has chosen Mr. Joseph Maselli as her STAR Teacher. Allatoona is very proud of our STAR student, Rachel Stammen, and our STAR Teacher, Joseph Maselli. Congratulations to both of you!

Taking the AP exam after learning all semester in an AP class is strongly recommended at Allatoona High School.  Why take an AP exam?  There are many great reasons:

  • The AP test is terrific practice for college exams.
  • Students can earn college credit for the high school course if they score a 3,4, or 5 on the AP test (depending on the college of choice).
  • Students are well prepared after spending a semester with teachers who care, help build skills, and are at the school for extra tutoring in the mornings and afternoons.
  • AP testing builds confident college students!
  • Students who sign up for and take the AP exam are exempt from taking the final exam for that AP class.

Get ahead and register for your AP exam now!  Parents and students can visit our new registration site at the following address:

On the Total Registration site you will find it easy to create an account, register for an AP test, and pay online with a credit or debit card.  You can also pay in cash or check at the school, but it is strongly recommended to register and pay online at one convenient stop.  Once you have entered the Total Registration site, you will click on the tab at the top of the page to locate your school and the prompts will help you create an account.

New this year is our 2015/2016 exam exemption policy for all students who sign up by the end of the 12-week marking period to take the AP exam in May.  Ask any AP teacher or administrator about the details of this opportunity.

Students: You can do it!  You are smart, prepared, and ready to achieve!  Believe in yourself!
