Summer Reading Challenge

Griffin Middle School is participating in the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge. Students received information during the spring book fair and had the opportunity to login to their reading dashboard. This information will also be distributed with report cards. Students can win prizes from Scholastic and potentially beat the world record for number of minutes read! Each time a student reads, they record it on their Scholastic dashboard! It's that easy! Students can even record minutes when they do their required ELA reading.
Click HERE for more detailed information.
Or, visit the Learning Commons webpage.
Parents please encourage your students to participate!

SHREK Opening Night a Huge Success!

"These aren't students, these are professionals on Broadway"
-SHREK audience member

SHREK The Musical Jr., opened production in the Griffin Middle School Theater on Thursday, May 19th. It was a sold out crowd for the opening night performance directed by Griffin's own chorus teacher, Sarah Rabun. After several months of dedication from Ms. Rabun, along with assistant director and Griffin ELA teacher, Tony Smith, and several creative and behind the scenes team members, including set design by Griffin art teacher Alison Todd, and the GMS Art Club, SHREK audience members were able to enjoy the wonderful acting and vocals of the true stars of the show...our fabulous students! Their talent is incredible!
Friday's show is sold out as well, so if you don't want to miss the singing, dancing and laughs, please contact Wendy Meyer via email at or to get one of the very few tickets left for Saturday's 7 p.m. performance!
Your freak flag is gonna fly!
Congrats to our awesome staff, students, PTSA and sponsors for a very successful musical production!

Administrators and staff members attended, along with the retiree's family members. We will miss each of them tremendously, but wish them much happiness in their future endeavors.

Griffin "Roars Into Reading" at Six Flags

Beginning February 1st, students were invited to participate in the “Roar into Reading Challenge” sponsored by Griffin Middle School. Students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades were able to read their choice of books and record the number of pages read each week onto a personal reading log. In addition to prizes, participants were treated to freshly popped popcorn every other Wednesday during the challenge. Over the course of 12 weeks, Griffin students read several pages of books and competed for a trip to Six Flags. When the challenge ended on April 15th, reading logs were tallied, and the top ten readers from each grade level were selected. On Friday, April 22nd, these students, along with GMS chaperones, Mrs. Krengel, Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Quintana, Mrs. Beasley and Mr. Quintana, spent a fun-filled day at Six Flags. We are proud of our Griffin Wildcats and the dedication they put into reading. Our students can’t wait for next year’s Roar into Reading Challenge!

The rain didn’t stop our top reading Griffin Wildcats from riding
the thrilling roller coasters at Six Flags!
