2017-2018 School Choice Information

The Cobb County School District is again offering School Choice (HB 251 and SB10) transfers for the 2017-2018 school year. Individual school capacity information and applications will be available beginning February 1, 2017 on the District website.

Read Across America Week!
February 27 through March 2nd!

Fun activities are scheduled in the learning commons February 27-March 2nd! Get a study hall pass in the cafeteria starting at 8:30 am or a pass from your homeroom/classroom teacher throughout the day!

Visit the Learning Commons with a friend each day
and read a Dr. Seuss book to each other
to fill up your bingo card!

Monday: Dr. Seuss Book Cover Contest
Tuesday: Make a Cat in the Hat Selfie
Wednesday: Find One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish in the LC
Thursday: Dress like your favorite Dr. Seuss character
Friday: Prize winners shared during morning announcements

Student volunteers will be visiting King Springs Elementary on March 2nd to read their favorite Dr. Seuss book to the students!

Cobb Regional Tech Competition
GMS 1st Place in Audio Production

Griffin Middle School 8th grader, Jimmy Cyganek, received 1st place in this year's Cobb Regional Tech Competition. His project was, "Fireworks", a march he composed for a science PBL using free online software called, Soundtrap. He will take his project to state competition in Macon, GA, this March.
The entire Griffin community is very proud! Great Job, Jimmy!

Accepted to Georgia All State Chorus!

Congratulations to Dylan Anderson & Jimmy Cyganek!
Both Griffin students were accepted into the Georgia All State Chorus after going through two rigorous singing auditions.
They will perform at the Classic Center in Athens, GA, over the February break.
We are so proud to have the BEST middle school singers in the State of Georgia!!

Georgia Milestones Preparation

Wildcats! Now is the perfect time to start preparing for the Milestone Test. Maybe you have test anxiety, or you just want to do your very best on the test. To help you be prepared, the following site offers students the opportunity to practice testing online. Parents are also welcome to visit the site to get a first-hand view of how students will be completing the Milestone Test. The items on the test are general and organized into three grade bands: grades 3-5, 6-8, and high school. Content areas covered are English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.

Office 365 is a collection of services that allows students to collaborate, edit, share, and store their schoolwork. There is no software to download and students receive 1TB of storage in OneDrive.

It’s available for FREE to students who are currently attending a Cobb County school. Yes! This includes Griffin Middle School! However, students need parental consent. Parents can give consent for students to use Office365 at school and at home by logging into their ParentVue account. For a ParentVue account, please contact the 6th grade principal or the school Leadership Intern.

Teachers are taking the pathway to use Office 365 in the classroom so it is important for your student to have an active account through
Cobb County School District.

The Griffin Middle School student
dress code policy is available in your student's agenda. Please review the policy with your student.

Administrators & teachers shall enforce the dress code rule, and the principal or designee shall be the final judge as to the appropriateness, neatness and cleanliness of the wearing apparel, or whether or not apparel is disruptive, unsafe, or in violation of the dress code.

Students not following school dress code will contact parents to bring them a change of clothes. If students are not able to contact their parents, they will be placed in In-School Suspension (ISS) for the entire school day. Thank you for your cooperation.
