News and Announcements

Dear Parents/Guardians:

We are seeing several students in the clinic with flu, strep, and other viral illnesses.  I’m asking for your help to decrease the continued spread.  Please review the Cobb County School District Illness Guidelines.

All children who show definite signs of illness or injury shall be sent home. Students awaiting parent’s arrival shall remain in the clinic if a contagious illness is suspected. Please make arrangements to have students picked up within 30 minutes-1 hour.  Unfortunately, we are not able to separate sick/well children.

Diarrhea-Watery stools that occur more than 2 times per school day.  The child may not return to school for 24 hours from the time of the last diarrhea stool.

If a child has one episode of diarrhea and if other symptoms are present (fever 99.5 or above, abdominal discomfort, lethargy, etc.), it will be necessary for the child to be sent home.

Vomiting: Students with two episodes or one episode and a temp of 99.5 or above will be sent home.  The child may not return to school until they are free of vomiting episodes for 24 hours from the last episode and without the use of medication.

Fever: .

The child may not return to school until free of fever for 24 hours without the use of Tylenol, Advil or Ibuprofen.

Common Infectious Illnesses and Skin Rashes:  These illnesses and rashes are spread very easily in a school setting. If we suspect your child may have one of these, you will be phoned to pick up your child.  You will receive instructions on what is required before your child can return to school. This is to prevent the transmission and spread of diseases.

Head Lice       Ringworm           Conjunctivitis

Impetigo          Strep throat         Scarlet Fever           Hand Foot Mouth

Chicken Pox

It is very important for a child to feel his/her best to enhance the learning process. Please help keep all of our children and staff at Hollydale Elementary healthy by following the guidelines.  Promote good hand washing skills and respiratory etiquette with your child.  Adequate rest and taking time to get well will get up back to health in no time flat!  .
