What is STEM in Cobb County?
The STEM and Innovation department is focused on cultivating opportunities for students to solve real-world problems and nurture skills to thrive in the future. STEM Cobb uses a personalized approach to support schools and teachers as they develop their unique STEM/STEAM identities. The work of the STEM and Innovation department is aligned to four pillars:
Awareness: Increase awareness of elements in a comprehensive STEM/STEAM ecosystem.
Access: Deliver superior STEM/STEAM learning experiences that model exemplary practices.
Strengthen: Advocate for opportunities to learn with and from business, industry, and community.
Recognition: Amplify the impact of those employing innovative STEM/STEAM strategies.
Cobb STEM/STEAM Certification recognizes schools that provide all Cobb students with STEM-enriched learning opportunities above and beyond the exemplary practices found in all Cobb schools. STEM/STEAM learning is inclusive of the humanities and allows students to creatively express ideas by challenging them to look at issues through different lenses while developing innovative solutions.
The electronic translation service is hosted by Google Translate. The quality of the translation will vary in some of the languages offered by Google. Google Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 50 languages, although an impressive number, this does not capture all languages or dialects. The basic translation’s goal is to capture the general intention of the original English material.
