Cooper STEM Academy

The Cooper STEM Academy was established in 2013 to inspire, support and engage students in engineering through enhanced math and science experiences. In 2016 Cooper STEM Academy received Cobb County STEM certification. In 2017 the STEM Academy was awarded state STEM and AdvancED certifications. The STEM Academy provides rigorous cross-disciplinary curriculum among all content areas through the integration of science, technology, engineering, and math. The Academy exposes students to various engineering design projects and community concerns during a specialized STEM enrichment block. Students qualify for the STEM Academy by being eligible to enroll in math 6/7, math 7/8, and Algebra I.

All Cooper students have access to STEM enrichment within multiple Connections Classes such as:

  • Broadcast Journalism - 6th Grade
  • Introduction to Communications - 7th Grade
  • Applications of Communications - 8th Grade
  • Audio and Video Technology and Film 1 - 9th Grade (High School Credit)
  • Career Development - 6th Grade
  • Career Discovery - 7th Grade
  • High School Foundations of Engineering and Career Management - 8th Grade
  • Art
  • Healthcare Sciences
  • Performing Arts

Cooper's STEM Academy also collaborates with feeder elementary schools.
