Learning Everywhere Student Laptop Initiative

Laptop Distribution Days
Monday, January 3, 3:30 – 7:00 pm
Tuesday, January 4, 3:30 – 7:00 pm
We are excited to announce the CCSD Learning Everywhere Student Laptop Initiative has arrived at Durham Middle School! Student laptops will be used both in the classroom and at home. Prior to using the laptop at school, students will pick up their laptop in the Durham theater on one of our two distribution days. They will then take it home, log in, and keep the laptop powered on for at least 6 hours or overnight. Instructions detailing the specific steps necessary to set up the laptop may be found under the CCSD Student Laptop Program link and will also be provided at device distribution. Once the detailed steps are followed, students' devices may be brought to school. All students will begin using their laptops in classes Wednesday, January 5, 2022.
Students will receive 15-20 minute guided lessons each class block on Wednesday, January 5th and Thursday, January 6th to help them set up and begin using their devices. The following are the topics that will be taught each day:

Friday, January 7th, teachers will clarify subject specific expectations and student laptop use. This will include how to access content specific material, how to record and save presentations using the camera feature, and how to integrate technology use in the classroom. Because we are being very specific with our roll out of the laptops and how they are going to be used, it is imperative families pick up students' laptops on one of our two distribution days so students are readied for a successful 1:1 experience. Here's to an exciting new year, Wildcats!
