Durham Clubs and Organizations
The following are activities that students can get involved in. The announcements will provide more details and there will also be signs posted around the building about upcoming meeting times. All clubs are optional. Please see below for club description, mission, and purpose.

| Academic Team Sponsors: Rebecca Forester, Maria Levreault, and Whitney Morris | Wednesay; Room 534 | This is a quizbowl team that competes with other middle schools from around Georgia on Saturdays (five to six competitions). Students who participate study up on an assortment of topics and compete against other schools. Meetings will be announced on the morning news. |
| Crochet Circle Sponsor: Kate McFadden | Tuesday and Friday; Library Learning Commons | Students apply for Crochet Circle by filling out an application found in the LLC. This club is a laid-back, social club where students learn to crochet, work on crochet projects together, and enjoy quiet company before the start of the school day. Supplies will be provided. Meetings will be announced on the morning announcements. |
| Durham Dynamix Sponsor: Susan Campbell | Thursday; Theater | Students must be a member of Chorus to participate and membership is contigent upon an audition. This is a musical show choir ensemble that learns show choir performance material and hosts shows two times per year. |
| Durham Fiddlers Sponsor: Susan Goudreau | Monday, Wednesday, Thursday; Orchestra Room | Open to all Orchestra students who sign up from a link found on Ms. Goudreau's CTLS Class Board. Students work together to learn and play a wide range of musical styles including Fiddle Music, Rock, Music, and more. This is a specialized ensemble that will play at various school events throughout the year. |
| Friends Club Sponsors: Judith Intagliata, Stefanie Stevens, Maria Adley, and Suzanne LeRoux | Thursday; Room 307 | Friends Club is designed to provide an inclusive environment for building friendships and social skills outside the scheduled school day between students with disabilities and general education peers. The club is open to all, and will promote socialization through crafts, boardgames, cooking and snacks. Meeting times will be announced on the morning news. |
| GROW Club Sponsors: Michelle Graham and Kate McFadden | Thursday; Room 434 | The goal of Grow Club is to expose students to the art of growing things indoors and outdoors to enhance the school grounds. Students will learn how to maintain gardens and florals around the school while learning growing practices such as propogation, seed germination, weeding, and landscaping. Students will have the opportunity to harvest vegetables from the school garden. There is a fee for this club in order to provide the tools necessary of instruction. Meeting times will be announced on the morning news. |
| Intramurals Sponsors: Jordan Davis and Jill Lambertson | Monday - Thursday; Gym | Open to all students the purpose of this club is to provide cardiovascular activity and learn collaboration, teamwork and sportsmanship through large group game play. |
| Jazz Band Sponsor: Selena Sanchez | Tuesday; Band Room | Open to all 7th and 8th Grade students. Jazz Band is a specialy ensemble dedicated to learning about and learning to play jazz music. Students will be exposed to a variety of jazz styles with opportunities to perform at different school events throughout the year. |
| Jr. Beta Club Sponsors: Julayma Kines and April Willis | Wednesday; Room 531 | The Jr Beta Club is by invitation only. It is a division of the National Beta Club, an organization that recognizes and promotes academic achievement, character, leadership and service. Qualification invitations will be sent out in the spring to students who meet the National Beta Club criteria. |
| Library Ambassadors Sponsors: Erin Baker and Kate McFadden | Monday through Friday; Library Learning Commons | Students interested in this club shoud see Ms. Baker for orientation details. This club assists Ms. Baker and Ms. McFadden in the Library Learning Commons during homeroom. Activities include reshelving books, assisting students, checking out materials and promoting Library Learning Commons activities. |
| Lunch Bunch Book Club Sponsors: Erin Baker, Patti Slade, Kaylee Pettit, and Kate McFadden | Wednesday; Library Learning Commons | Lunch Bunch Book Club is an enrichment learning experience build on the concepts of student "choice, voice, and volume" and "books are mirrors, windows, and sliding glass doors." Lunch Bunch Book Club supports student learning experiences, celebrating reading, and connecting reading enthusiasts with one another. Each grade level book club meets in the library on Wednesdays for lunch and discussion of the current book selection. Open to all students. Meetings are announced on the morning news. |

| Percussion Ensemble Sponsor: Selena Sanchez | Wednesday; Band Room | Percussion Ensemble is open to all 7th and 8th Grade students. This clubs is a specialy ensemble dedicated to learning about and learning to play percussion music. Students will be exposed to a variety of percussion styles with opportunities to perform at different school events throughout the year. |
| Science Olympiad Sponsors: Stacey Holland, Lisa Edwards and Kerrie Poirot | Wednesday and Friday; 6th Grade Multi-Use Room | Students will be chosen based on an application submitted by September 5th. Science Olympiad is a nationally recognized STEM competition where students work together on hands-on experiments, research, and problem-solving in events spanning earth science, physics, engineering, and biology. It's a great way to build science skills and make new friends. A club fee if required to cover the costs of materials. |
| StoryTeller's Guild Sponsor: Kate McFadden | Tuesday; Lab 214 | The Storyteller's Guild is a creative space for students who love storytelling - in all forms - including writing, drawing, or dreaming up ideas. Members will meet after school to work on short stories, develop characters, and collaborate on projects with a goal of producing a student-created collection by the end of the year. Meetings will be announced on the morning news. |
| Technology Student Association (TSA) Sponsors: Dr. Grant and Dr. Barber | Monday and Thursday; Room 338 | This club is by application. The Technology Student Association enhances personal development, leadership, and career opportunities in STEAM. We focus on accelerating student achievement by providing engaging opportunities to develop STEAM skills for future leadership in a technical world. As a Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO), TSa provides intracurricular competitions and programs that inspire and challenge students. A club fee will be required. Meetings will be announced on the morning news. |

| Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Monitor: Jordan Davis | Friday; Theater | FCA is a student-led, Christian gathering that is open to all student and is a place for friends, fun, and faith. Our purpose is to bring students together to pursue the Christian faith and build friendships. Every week, student play games and listen to a student pastor from a local church. FCA students also participate in service projects to support the Durham student community. |
