About School


Green Acres Elementary school was established in 1966 and is located in the Northern end of Smyrna, GA and serves approximately 600 students in SNPK through fifth grade. For the 2019-20 school year, Green Acres Elementary was recognized as a Title I Reward School. A Title I Reward School is a Title I school among the 10% of Title I schools in the state that is making the most progress in improving the performance of the all-students group over the most recent two years of the statewide assessments. Our workshop model instructional framework emphasizes rigor in literacy and relevance in math, to make learning engaging and fun.

All students in grades K-5 receive instruction in phonics, reading, language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, as well as art, music, STEM, and physical education. Additionally, the following programs and resources are offered:

    After School clubs: Good News Club, Garden Club, Art Club, Soccer Club, STEM Gems, Gator Showcase, Science Olympiad, and Chorus

    Outdoor learning opportunities through the OutTeach school garden

    After School Program from 2:30 pm until 6:00 pm Monday through Friday

Parental involvement is integral to the success of the student, both at home and in the classroom. The administration and staff at Green Acres s have worked diligently to create an environment open to parental participation on many different levels. Our parents provide proactive support in grade-specific school-wide intiatives, cultural arts activities, literacy support, and a host of other activities.
